GRAMMAR TOPIC:

FUTURE TENSE “GOING TO” negative sentences

Negations in this form use: Verb to be + going to + infinitive to talk about

the intention of not doing something.

Form:

ENGLISH III 4
GOING TO VS. WILL

Many people believe that the difference between "will" and "going to" is between the
near future and the distant future, but it is not true. It has to do with the plan you have
(or do not have). If it is a spontaneous decision, you will use. If you have a plan that you
have thought of before, better going to.

Going to is longer: the verb to be + going to + is used in a verb in infinitive. "I'm going
to buy the tickets later."
Will has his short form: I'll, you'll, he'll, she'll etc.
With going to short the form of the verb to be: I'm going to, you're going to, he's going
to, she's going to etc.

 Will is used with a verb in infinitive. "I will see you tomorrow."
 Going to is longer: the verb to be + going to + is used in a verb in infinitive. "I'm
going to buy the tickets later."
 Will has his short form: I'll, you'll, he'll, she'll etc.
 With going to short the form of the verb to be: I'm going to, you're going to, he's
going to, she's going to etc.

EXAMPLES:

 I'm not going to copy at the exam of English.

 She’s not going to expose her project on Tuesday

 The phrase It's not going to rain tomorrow is not a plan or an intention,
but it is also correct, because going to is more flexible than other futures.
In this case, going to is used for a future forecast.

 You are not going to fight

SONG
We're Not Gonna Take It

ENGLISH III 7
We're Not Gonna Take It

Oh we're not gonna take it

No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh we're not gonna take it anymore
We've got the right to choose it
There ain't no way we'll lost it
This is our life, this is our song
We'll fight the powers that be just
Don't pick our destiny 'cause
You don't know us, you don't belong
Oh we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh we're not gonna take it anymore
Oh you're so condescending
Your gall is never ending
We don't want nothin', not a thing from you
Your life is trite and jaded
Boring and confiscated
If that's your best, your best won't do
Oh Oh
We're right (yeah)
We're free (yeah)
We'll fight (yeah)
You'll see (yeah)
Oh we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh we're not gonna take it anymore
Oh we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh we're not gonna take it anymore
No way
Oh Oh
We're right (yeah)
We're free (yeah)
We'll fight (yeah)
You'll see (yeah)

Describing a relative life event

On July 30, 2015, take my pet to the

veterinarian, "Kobu".
there I found out about a contest about a
marathon with a pet, I got a lot of
attention so I registered my pet and me.
On August 2, 2015, I competed in the
marathon with my pet and we won.

It was a very exciting day. Before the

race started I was very nervous but
when I started, my nerves disappeared
and when I realized that we were
winning and we won.

We received a prize of 500 soles for my

pet, so we paid for his treatments
because he was very sick, really ... it
was a nice day one of the best.

After that ... there were 5 competitions

won consecutively.

ENGLISH III 13
CONCLUTION

The use of "going to" refer to future events suggests a very strong association with the
present. The time is not important, it is later than now, but the attitude is that the event
depends on something in the present situation that we know about. Going is mainly used
to refer to our plans and intentions or to make predictions based on present evidence. In
everyday speech, "going to" is often shortened to "gonna", especially in American
English, but it is never written that way.
