Introduction Sepam protection relays,
the product of experience
Protection relays constantly monitor the power network and trip the circuit breakers
to isolate the faulty portion under fault conditions: overload, short-circuit, insulation
fault.
The Sepam range of protection relays is designed for all protection applications in
medium-voltage public and industrial distribution networks.
It is made up of four series of relays with increasing performance levels:
Sepam series 10 for simple applications.
Sepam series 20 for current or voltage applications.
Sepam series 40 for current and voltage applications.
Sepam series 60 for demanding applications.
Sepam series 80 for critical or custom applications.
You can be sure of finding the range of products meeting your needs and complying
perfectly with local standards.
Our technicians are always on hand to provide solutions tailored to your needs and
all the technical assistance you may require.

Applications Sepam series 10 applications
Protection applications
The primary applications for Sepam series 10 are:
protection of secondary distribution networks (MV/MV and MV/LV substations)
protection of buildings supplied with medium voltage (MV), including office
buildings, shopping centres, industrial buildings, warehouses, etc.
protection of low-voltage networks by tripping a Masterpact NW circuit breaker not
equipped with a Micrologic control unit.

Functions Protection and measurement
Sepam series 10 functions
N B A External tripping
A Sepam series 10 A can receive, via a logic input, a tripping order from an external
protection device.
N B A Earth-fault current
This function displays the value of the fundamental of the earth-fault current.
For this measurement and for earth-fault protection (ANSI 50N/51N), the zero-
sequence input must be connected either to the common point of the three phase
CTs or to one earth-fault protection CT or to a CSH120, CSH200 or GO110 core
balance CT.
N B A Phase currents
This function displays the rms phase-current values and takes into account
harmonics up to order 13. On Sepam series 10•4••, this function displays the three
phase currents. On Sepam series 10•3••, only the A and C phases are connected
and displayed.

Function
The specifically designed CSH120 and CSH200 core balance CTs are used for direct
residual current measurement. The only difference between them is the diameter.

Due to their low voltage insulation, they may be used only on cables with earthed
shielding.

Power supply PS100 High-availability
power supply
substations
Applications
The power supply unit supplies backup operating power for:
MV switchgear motor mechanisms and circuit breaker coils
Transmission equipment (e.g. radio)
Control units such as RTU or Automatic Transfer System
Protection relays, Fault Passage Indicators and others electronic devices
High availability power supply
A battery ensures uninterrupted operation of the whole substation in the event of
loss of the main supply. The backup power supply unit:
Includes a regulated and temperature-compensated charger
Stops the battery before deep discharge
Carries out a battery check every 12 hours
Backup solution for MV switchgear power needs in Measures battery ageing
the event of micro outages and power interruptions. Forwards monitoring information via a Modbus communication port and output
Easy maintenance with only one battery relays
Battery remote monitoring
High level of insulation to protect the electronic PS100 benefits
devices in harsh MV environments Only one battery
Compliant with standards IEC 60 255-5 (10kV level) Traditional backup power supplies require a set of 2 or 4 batteries to produce 24V
or 48V, with complicated replacement and adjustment of the battery pack. The
PS100 needs only one battery, simplifying replacement. The battery is a standard
sealed lead-acid 12V battery with a 10-year service. It can be purchased easily,
anywhere in the world.
Improved availability of MV/LV substations
The PS100 is designed to ride through power network interruptions of up to 48
hours. It is associated with a battery selected to meet the required backup time.
+
For example, a 38Ah battery provides 12 hours of backup power supply to a SM6
switchboard including 4 Sepam units.
The PS100 protects and optimises the battery with state-of-the-art monitoring.
Battery PS100 A Modbus communication port forwards monitoring data to allow optimised
maintenance operations. Perfect integration with the Easergy range to control and
monitor your distribution network.
The PS100 stops supplying power and reserves an “additional Energy backup” to
PM102301
Main features
DIN rail mounting for easy integration in any LV cabinet or MV/LV substation.
2 power supply outputs:
- 12Vdc - 18W permanent / 100W 20s (for modem, radio, RTU,etc.)
- 48Vdc or 24 Vdc - 300W /1 minute (for switchgear operating mechanism
motors) and 90W / permanent for protection relays, electronic devices, etc.
RJ45 Modbus communication port
2 output relays (AC supply ON, Battery ON)
Diagnostic with LEDs
1 sealed lead-acid 12V battery with a 10-year service life (from 7Ah to 40Ah)
Power supply paralleling available with a 2nd PS100 to increase availability or to
provide additional power
