Theme: Changing Lifestyle amidst Changing Global Climate

International Themes for Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation
Taking into account the experience gained through the implementation of the Hyogo Framework for Action, and in
pursuance of the expected outcome and goal of Sendai Framework (2015-2030), there four (4) priorities in the
aspect of global disaster risk reduction, these are (1) Understanding disaster risk; (2) Strengthening disaster risk
governance to manage disaster risk; (3) Investing in disaster risk reduction for resilience; and (4) Enhancing
disaster preparedness for effective response and to “Build Back Better” in recovery, rehabilitation and
reconstruction.
Considering the global themes and seeking to address these priorities on Disaster Risk Reduction & Climate
Change Adaptation and Mitigation (DRR-CCAM), the Philippines has drafted the “Harmonized National Research
and Development Agenda (2017-2022) of the Philippines. One of the four (4) main themes is focused on DRR-
CCAM, and these are: (1) Observation and Monitoring Networks; (2) Technology Development and Application for
Monitoring; (3) Modelling and Simulation for Improvement of Monitoring and Forecasting; (4) Hazards, Vulnerability
and Risk Assessment; (5) Warning and Risk Communication; (6) Technology Development and Application for
Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation; (7) Technology Development and Application for Disaster Risk
Management; and (8) Policy Research.
This 6th International Conference on Integrative Disaster Risk Reduction Management considers these global and
national themes. Within in these premises, this conference will tackle research and development concerns under
the four (4) thematic areas of DRRM:
1. Preventive and Mitigation
2. Preparedness
3. Response
4. Recovery & Rehabilitation

Plenary sessions will be composed of panels to facilitate the flow of each session:
1. Panel of evaluators – experts in the field related to the theme and nature of the session.
2. Panel of reactors – these are stakeholders from different sectors
3. Audience – all concerned participants
