Sonic the Hedgehog (en espa�ol Sonic el erizo) es una serie de videojuegos
publicados por Sega y por Sonic Team. Es uno de los personajes de videojuegos m�s
reconocidos del mundo. A partir de 2013, la franquicia ha vendido m�s de 360
millones de unidades, siendo la quinta saga de videojuegos m�s vendida de todos los
tiempos.

En Jap�n, Sonic no consigui� la misma popularidad que la de Super Mario en su

momento. Pero en Estados Unidos, Sonic consigui� lograr tanta popularidad en el
p�blico, que hasta en una encuesta era m�s famoso que Mickey Mouse.[cita requerida]
Y en 1993 particip� en el Desfile de Acci�n de Gracias, siendo el primer personaje
de videojuegos en participar.
