1. What is involved in project scope management and why is good project scope management so
important on IT projects?

The process Involved in Project Scope Management first is Project Planning which includes Collecting
Requirements, Define Scope, and Create WBS. Second process is Project Monitoring and Control which
includes Verify Scope and Control Scope.

Good Project Scope Management is so important on IT Project because if you don’t know what you are
doing it is very difficult to get a good outcome. It also important because it creates boundaries of the project,
what to include and what not to include and controls what is allowed or removed as it is executed.

2. What is involved in collecting requirements for a project? Why is it often difficult to do?

Collecting requirements it is the process of defining and documenting stakeholders need to meet
the project activities. The involve in collective requirement are Interview, Holding of focus group workshops,
giving of Questionnaire and surveys and lastly benchmarking. The difficulty is that people often do not have a
good process for collecting and documenting project requirements.

3. Discuss the process of defining project scope in more detail as a project progresses, going from
information in a project charter to a project scope statement, WBS, and WBS dictionary.

Defining scope this is the process of developing a description of the project and product.
involves reviewing the scope management plan, project charter, requirements documents, and organizational
process assets to create a scope statement, adding more information as requirements are developed and change
requests are approved. The main outputs of scope definition are the project scope statement and updates to
project documents. After collecting requirements and defining scope, the next step in project scope management
is to create a work breakdown structure.

4. Describe different ways to develop a WBS and explain why it is often so difficult to do.

A Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) is a decomposition of all the work necessary to complete a
project and also it represent the work identified in the approved project scope statement and serves as an early
foundation for effective schedule development and cost estimating. The different ways to develop WBS are first
proactively and logically plan out the project to completion. Second collect the information about the work
needs and lastly organize activities into manageable components.

5. You are working on a project to develop a new or enhanced system to help people at your college,
university, or organization to find jobs. The system must be tailored to your student or work population
and be very easy to use. Write a short paper describing how you would collect requirements for this
system, and include at least five requirements in a requirements traceability matrix.

Collecting Requirements it is the process of defining and documenting stakeholders need to meet
the project activities. Collecting requirements will help the project manager in the next step, which is – defining
the scope of the project.
The five requirements are:

 one on one interviews


 paper surveys
 use of questionnaires
 benchmarking
 interactions between the users and systems.
