1.- BRANCH CONNECTIONS

The design branch connections made in accordance with the followings:
(See 304.3.1 (b) in ASME B31.3-2012)
Condition 1: Condition 3:
1a) 1b) Angle β is at least 45 deg
𝐷ℎ/𝑇ℎ<100 ^ 𝐷𝑏/𝐷ℎ≤1

Condition 2: Condition 4:
The axis of the branch intersects the axis of the run
2a) 𝐷ℎ/𝑇ℎ≥100 2b) 𝐷𝑏<𝐷ℎ/2

Where:
Dh is run pipe diameter
Th is thickness run pipe diameter
Db is the branch diameter

A pipe having a branch connection is weakened by the opening that

must be made in it and, unless the wall thickness of the pipe is sufficiently
in excess of that required to sustain th pressure, it is necessary to provide
added reinforcement. The amount of reinforcement required to sustain
the pressure shall be determined in accordance with paragraph 304.3.3 or
304.3.4 of the ASME B31.3-2012
