General Information
The Extended Day Summer Program is a service that provides morning and afternoon care to
students enrolled in summer school at Evergreen Park School District 124. Open to students
entering Kindergarten through 7th grade, the Extended Day Summer Program (EDSP) provides
a safe, enriching environment with a warm and caring staff. EDSP also offers a nutritious lunch
and snack, free play, enrichment classes, and structured activities.
Students must register in the EDSP to be eligible to attend.
Staff
A site coordinator directs the EDSP and works directly with the students who attend the
program. The staff also includes a supervisor and assistant for each group of students. Staffing
levels vary with attendance, so your advance scheduling helps to appropriately staff and provide
a quality program. The staff/child ration will be below the 1:20 ratio required by the Illinois
Department of Children and Family Services for licensed child care providers.
The EDSP staff is devoted to helping build good citizens in an atmosphere of friendship, fun, and
games. Staff members use the positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) as a
guideline to create a safe, happy environment for students during the extended day hours.
