Clinton Caught
“I did not have sexual relations
with that women, Miss Lew-
insky.” These are the exact
words our President told us Jan-
uary 26, 1998; after the allega-
tions came out. Words many of
us believed; words we now
know are lies. As we all know
the these claims surfaced in De-
cember 1997, when Kenneth
Starr and the FBI began their
investigation of President Clin-
ton. Based on the words of one
Monica Lewinsky who claims
that her and the President had 9
sexual encounters from Novem-
ber 15 1995 to April 1996. Pres-
ident Clinton repeatedly denied
these claims, on multiple occa-
sions in multiple press confer-
ences. In more recent times
Monica Lewinsky has offered
evidence in exchange for im-
Monica Lewinsky has offered evidence in exchange for immunity, this evidence
being a blue dress of hers. A dress bearing a “Mysterious” stain, DNA tests con-
firmed that the stain on the dress contained the DNA of President Clinton. The
President later tried to defend himself claiming he did engage in “Inappropriate In-
timate Physical Contact” with Miss Lewinsky but nothing that would be consid-
ered “Sexual Relations.” Despite the Presidents attempts to apologize, Kenneth
Starr is working on a report for congress he claims will bring up 11 possible
grounds for impeachment. Will Congress decide to impeach President Clinton?
Only time would tell. Until then i'd like to challenge the American people to pon-
der not only the recent mistakes of President Clinton but the successes of his Presi-
dency, and decide for yourselves if a man who lied to the American people de-
serves impeachment.
Reflecting on Clintons Economy
Economic Policies NAFTA
Since President Clinton has been NAFTA stands for the North
in office he has improved the American Free Trade Agree-
economy exponentially and put it ment. This was a three-country
accord between The United States,
in a place where it can grow at a
Mexico, and Canada. It was creat-
stable rate. When he first entered ed on January 1,1994. It was 2,000
office the national deficit was pages long and had 8 sections with
$203 Billion, today seven years 22 chapters. Clinton signed the
later we are now at a $128 Billion agreement on December 8,1993
but before he did he gave a speech
surplus. How did he do this? By

ic policies. First he implemented ment. The agreement was made to
the Personal Responsibility and eliminate barriers to trade and in-

Politics of Clinton
Election Year
Running against each other
were George W. Bush
(Republican President), William
- Bill - Clinton (Democratic
Governor of Arkansas) and
Ross Perot (Independent Texan
businessman). The election took
place on Tuesday, November
3rd, 1992 and had three strong
candidates who all were cam-
paigning around the country’s
economic issues. Clinton won
popular vote. Bush didn’t have
many fans because he broke his
reduced tax pledge. Ross Perot
was surprisingly popular. Bush
was defeated because the peo-
ple weren’t happy with how he
didn’t seem to do much to help
speed of the process of restoring
the economy from the1990-
1991 recession. Clinton won be-
cause his campaign talked about
economy issues which Bush
failed to talk about. Ross Perot
didn’t have any electoral votes but he did have 18.9% of the popular vote. Bush
had 37.5% of the popular vote and Clinton had 43%. This election was the fourth
time in American history that a sitting president was denied re-election and
marked the end of a 12 year Republican presidency. Clinton earned 370 electoral
votes and The election was held because Bush’s term was coming to an end. It
was time for a new quadrennial term.
Reflections on Terrorism
During President Clinton’s presidency, terrorism was prominent, with the three
most important attacks being on the USS Cole, the Oklahoma City bombing,
and the World Trade Center. The USS Cole was a U.S. Navy missile destroyer,
attacked by Al Qaeda on October 12th, 2000 while it was being refueled in
Yemen’s Aden Harbor. The Oklahoma City terrorist bombing was carried out by
Terry Nichols and Timothy McVeigh on April 19th, 1995. It was an attack
where a massive home-
made bomb that was hid-
den in a rental truck ex-
ploded. The bombing
caused a lot of damage to
the Alfred P. Murreh
Federal Building and af-
fected about 700 people;
168 people were killed,
19 ofwich were children,
and more than 500 peo-
ple were injured. The
9/11 attack was another
terrorist attack which
struck the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania. It was
planned and executed by Al Qaeda on Tuesday, September 11th, 2001. Four air-
planes were hijacked by Al Qaeda’s group members. Two were flown into the
World Trade Center Twin Towers, one hit the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and
the last plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. Almost 3,000 people were
killed during the 9/11 attacks.
Daytona Peace Accords and Separation of Yugoslavia
Leaders of Bosnia, Serbia, Croatia, and
representatives from the United States
come together to solve conflicts be-
tween countries at war. A couple years
ago, the separation of Yugoslavia
caused many issues. Republics that
were previously a part of the country,
such as Bosnia and Croatia, were lead
into conflict. Serbia, opposed to the
dissolution of Yugoslavia, declared war against the republics that had left the coun-
try willingly. The Bosniaks (Bosnian Muslims) and Croats also began fighting each
other. The war between the Croats and Bosniaks ended in 1992 while the war with
the Serbs continued until the Dayton Peace Conference which took place on No-
vember 1, 1995. The peace conference was held in Cleveland, Ohio to present a so-
lution to the conflict going on between the countries that were previously a part of
Yugoslavia. After twenty one long days, the General Framework Agreement for
Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina was reached, ending these wars.

Booms in Culture
New Technology and Y2K
Technological innovations have
been taking over. Some of the
biggest ones as of late have been
the invention of Windows 95
and IE 1.0. Windows 95 is the
first browser to include IE 1.0
which is the leading factor in
making it the top browser of the
time being. Microsoft released
this new form of Windows in
1995 all around the United
States. This new browser has al-
lowed society to be more easily connected to
each other and the world around them. The Y2K
bug was a product of this. Browsers are pro-
grammed in a way that they collect data based on
the date. Since most companies format their
products to collect only the last two digits of the
date, people fear that all browsers will fail once
January 1, 2000 comes around. A check for Y2K
preparedness showed the government to be the
least prepared for Y2K, which has concerned
many people. President Bill Clinton recently
signed the Year 2000 Information and Readiness
Disclosure Act to help encourage software com-
panies to share Y2K data. This will most likely
increase government preparedness for this bug.
Pop Culture
There were many new things that were introduced to America in this era. Lots of
Movies, Books, Search Engines/Websites, E-mail, Music,T.V. Sows, and Technol-
ogy were created during this time. The popular book that was out during this time
was J.K. Rowling’s book Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in 1997. It is
now known as the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone now. The internet ex-
panded quite a bit with the launch of websites and search engines like Google
(1997), Amazon(1994), Wikipedia(2001), and Hotmail(1996). Titanic(1996), The
Lion KIng(1997), and The Matrix() were the popular movies that were out at this
time. The first ever Grand Theft Auto(19997) game was created and The Sims
(2000) became the best selling video game in history. The popular show of this
era was Friends(1994). Britney Spears released her album, Baby One More Time
(1999). DVD-Video(1996) was launched and so was Ipod and Itunes(2001) in this
era as well.
