1. Silver forms CCP lattice and X-ray studies of its crystals show that the edge length of its unit cell
is 408.6 pm. Calculate the density of silver . Atomic mass of silver is 107.9 u.
2. The density of chromium metal is 7.0g/cm3. The unit cell is cubic with edge length of 289pm.
Calculate the number of atoms per unit cell (Atomic number of Cr =51.79)
3. The vapour pressure of pure water at 50°C is 12260Pa. 18.2g of solute was dissolved in 100g of
water at the same temperature. The lowering of vapour pressure produced is 660Pa. Calculate the
molar mass of the solute.
4. A 5.50g sample of a non-volatile solute is dissolved in 250g of benzene the freezing point of this
solution is 1.02°C below that of pure benzene. Calculate the molar mass of the solute (Kf for
benzene is 5.12 KKg/mol ).
5. The boiling point of benzene is 353.23K. When 1.80g of non volatile solute was dissolved in 90g
of benzene, the boiling point is raised to 354.11K. Calculate the molar mass of the solute. Kb for
benzene is 2.53 K Kg/mol.
6. 18g of glucose is dissolved in 1000g of water at 300K. At what temperature does this solution
boil ? (Kb for water is 0.52KKg/mol. Molar mass of glucose is 180g/mol)

7. 200cm3 of an aqueous solution of a protein contains 1.26g of the protein. The osmotic pressure of
a such solution at 300K is found to be 200×10-3 bar. Calculate the molar mass of the protein.
(Given R= 0.083 L bar mol-1 K-1)
8. A first order reaction is found to have a rate constant 5.5 × 10-14 s-1. Find the half life of the
reaction.

9. A first order reaction has a rate constant 1.15 × 10-3 s-1. How long will 5g of this reactant take to
reduce to 3g ?

10.The rate constant of first order reaction is 60s-1. How much time will take to reduce the initial
1
concentration of the reactant to its th value ?
