Advantages of solar dryers

● Efficient Heating Device: These dryers work in any sunny area which include
decks, patios, gardens and so forth.
● Portable: Most of these devices are compact in size and extremely portable. It is
also light in weight which is one of the greatest advantages of using these devices.
● Operational Costs: It also involves zero operational costs and it can function on
passive solar energy too.
● Ample Protection: The food items can be protected well with appropriate screening
devices.
● Temperature Control: It is also quite easy to control the temperature as it includes
adjustable venting features.

Disadvantages of solar dryer

● Somebody has to stay at home throughout the drying period to chase off domestic
animals, to remove the produce when the weather becomes too windy and dusty, or
when it rains.
● The dried product is often of poor quality as a result of grit and dirt.
● The product is often unhygienic as a result of microorganisms and insects such as
flies.
Space warming
Solar space heating systems are an effective and excellent way to reduce costly energy bills
during your heating season.
A solar space heater works alongside your current heating system to use the sun's energy to
reduce your consumption of oil, propane, or other fossil fuels.
Traditionally used with solar evacuated tube collectors, these systems work to provide free,
solar heating for your home throughout your entire heating system. These solar heating
systems can also be combined with our solar-ready ultra high efficiency DC-Inverter heat
pump chiller.

Styrofoam
Styrofoam is a trademarked brand of closed-cell extruded polystyrene foam (XPS),
commonly called "Blue Board" manufactured as foam continuous building insulation board
used in walls, roofs, and foundations as thermal insulation and water barrier.
Glass
Heat absorbing window glass is a type of window glass that contains special tints that cause
the window to absorb as much as 45% of incoming solar energy, to reduce heat gain in an
interior space. In hot climates, black-tinted glass should be avoided because it absorbs more
light than heat. Tinted, heat-absorbing
glass reflects only a small percentage of light, so it does not have the mirror-like appearance
of reflective glass.

Al sheet
Aluminium is the most common cost effective metal for doing this.
It has a high heat capacity, is a metal so it can conduct heat away from hot components and
can be treated to limit or prevent corrosion.

Convection
The movement caused within a fluid by the tendency of hotter and therefore less dense
material to rise, and colder, denser material to sink under the influence of gravity, which
consequently results in transfer of heat.

Forced convection
Forced convection is a mechanism, or type of transport in which fluid motion is generated by
an external source (like a pump, fan, suction device, etc.).

Difference between forced and free convection

Forced Convection is the mode of heat transfer between the layers of a fluid when is fluid is
made to flow on account of an applied force.

Natural Convection is the mode of heat transfer between the layers of a fluid when the fluid
is not in motion. In this, a density gradient exists between the hot and cold fluid.
