At the start I found it quite difficult to come up with an idea but after
thinking for a while I came up with two ideas quite quickly, I based the
two ideas off experiences I have had myself, and this enabled me to
imagine the whole story in detail. I came up with the third idea a bit
later on, I don’t think that it is as good as the first two ideas as I
completely made it up so I was unable to imagine it in as much detail. I
ended up choosing the first idea that I came up with as the results from
the survey told me I should do that one, I was going to choose between
the first and second idea myself as they were both as good as each
other however the second idea would be a lot harder to film.
Writing the proposal helped me to reflect on my skills and enabled me
to see what my strengths and weaknesses were. By looking at this I
decided that it would be best if I made a short film as it would enable
me to the demonstrate my editing skills the best as there is so many
possibilities as to what I can create. The proposal also helped me to
develop my idea as I started to think about how I would apply my skills
to the production which helped me to plan out the narrative as I knew
that I didn’t want to use a linear narrative because I wanted to make it
more creative to demonstrate my skills. It also helped me to plan certain
scenes because I could already picture in my head how I wanted to
edit it using the skills that I have learnt over the year.
I did not change my idea after receiving my feedback but it helped me
too choose which idea to use as before I sent out the survey I was stuck
between two ideas which I thought where equally as good as each
other. Double the people voted for the first idea than the second so I
chose to use that as my peers who I sent the survey too are the same
age as the target audience for the short film.
I am not completely on track for this week as there are still a few small
tasks that I need to complete.
I still need to find a competition to enter my short film into, write my own
brief and complete the bibliography.
