Accidents and/or fires mar occur
5. Keep a suitable / operable fire extinguisher nearby at all
times
SAFETY SIGNAGE FIRE BLANKET

SAFETY HARNESS FIRE EXTINGUISHER

1. Helmets and Shield – welding arcs are intensely brilliant lights
contains a proportion of ultraviolet light which may cause eye
damage.
2. Protective Clothing
Woolen clothing should be worn instead of cotton since
wool is not easily burned or damage by weld spatter and helps to
protect the welder from changes in temperature. All clothing
should be free from oil & grease

3. Gloves should be worn to protect the hands and arms from

rays of the arc , molten metal spatter, sparks & hot metals
Welding & cutting should not be done
near flammable materials unless every
precaution is taken to prevent ignition.

Three types of Fire:

Class A – fires with trash, wood, paper

or other combustible materials as
the fuel source
Class B – fires with flammable or
combustible liquids as fuel
source
Class C – fires involving electrical
equipment
Class D – fires with certain ignitable
metals as fuel source
How do you select the proper bit or attachment

• Follow the manufacturer’s instructions when selecting and

using a bit or attachment, especially with unfamiliar drills or
works

• Select the bit suitable for the size of the drill and the work
being done
• Ensure that the bit are properly seated and tightened in the
chuck.
DO’s when working with powered hand drills

• Wear safety glasses or a face shield

• Keep drill air vents clear to maintain
adequate ventilation
• Keep drill bit sharp at all times
• Keep all cords clear of the cutting area
during use. Inspect for frays or damage
before each use
•Disconnect power supply before changing
or adjusting bit or attachments
• Tighten the chuck securely. Remove chuck
key before starting drill
• Secure work piece being drilled to prevent
movement
• Slow the rate of feed just before breaking through the surface
• Drill a small “pilot hole” before drilling large holes
