Dear Students,
Hope you guys are doing very well. The roller coaster ride of your CLAT prep journey surely went uphill last
month, with a couple of Mocks, EssentiaLE and a lot of Evaluation Tests (ETs). It'll only get tougher from here
on, so everyone better level up :)
We took a small survey last month wherein we asked kids to review MonthLE and give suggestions and we
have implemented the following changes from this MonthLE:
1. More structured Current Affairs Timeline (with highly relevant news Emboldened)
2. Doing away with Crossword
3. Small interviews of successful students from last year.
Furthermore, we have also added a Mentor View Section, whereby two LegalEdge faculties will give tips
regarding their subjects each month. The faculties will try and answer the most common questions faced by
them from the students regarding their subjects, and they'll answer the questions to satisfaction of the
students. We really hope you like the changes made in the MonthLE. We'll also try and include more Subject
Tests from next MonthLE. Any more suggestions? We're all ears!
Adios for now. Keep preparing and All the Best for your first All India Open Mock CLAT (AIOMC) :)
Hello there! How are you? Studies on track? Able to devote the number of hours you promised to yourself last
week? Getting the doubts solved? Sab mast?
By now, you must have taken a few Mocks. And this would be the case with most of you, the scores and your
improvement would have been less than expected, even after regular and systematic studies. You must have
been thinking where am I going wrong? Why is my friend getting a higher score inspite of devoting less
number of hours than me? Why, even after understanding a particular topic, I'm not able to solve its questions
in the Mocks? How can I make my parents understand that I'm indeed serious about my prep? How can I
improve my performance - scores, ranks, percentile etc?
But would this dethroning be possible if you constantly doubt yourself and your abilities? No. Or if you've
made up your mind that your friend is plain smarter than you? No. Or if even after a lot hardwork you're not
scoring well, there is probably some problem with you only? Hell NO! So it's plain and simple - don't do these
things!
If there's one thing that years of teaching has taught the teachers of LegalEdge, it is that miracles happen! And
they happen a lot more frequently than we think. We have seen enough number of students who started low,
but kept going, kept working hard and kept improving and finally got the college of their dreams. On the
other hand, we've seen students who got complacent and casual after their initial lead, and soon were replaced
by the other, more hardworking students. Hope you know what category you wish to fall into? Right?
So again - Persevere! Have faith in yourself. There's no substitute for intense studies- so keep them going.
Occasionally take a break. Talk frequently to your parents- they'll keep you motivated. Keep a track of scores,
not to get demoralized but to check how can you improve further. Plan your day well- and stick to the plan.
And don't worry a lot if your to-do list for the day wasn't completed fully- you can always complete the
pending work tomorrow. For the rest of your life, you should be proud of how you prepared for CLAT!
3. Were you scared of any subjects in the beginning? What did you do to overcome that?
Ans: I was dead scared of Mathematics (I still am). I didn’t overcome that, I tried to find a way out, where I could
bypass the process of learning Maths. I understood that there are four options, and then tried to get to the answer
via elimination and smart guessing. Initially it was highly inefficient, but efficiency of getting the answer right grew
slowly. By the end of the year, options were more important than the question itself, and I got it right. One benefit
was that I could get the answers in very short time, because I didn’t solve them (though I wouldn’t recommend this
strategy to each and everyone, but this was what worked for me). In the CLAT, I did 12 questions in Maths, out of
which, 11 were right, in around 13-14 minutes.
4. How did you motivate yourself to study when you didn’t perform well in your mocks?
Ans: I used to talk to the teachers, to keep my spirits up. They believed in me more than I did, they still do. This
helped a lot.

When Students start preparation for any entrance exam they search for a reason to succeed in exam means they
want to know what we should do for exam so that they become successful.
But as I know there are many reasons behind success and very few reason behind failure in any exam. Here we
are discussing about this.
There are two major problems that the students of CLAT are facing now-a-days. Before going to these two
problems first you should know these problems are in an order, means if you cross first barrier then you will
face second otherwise you will not.
First problem is over discussion – When you start preparation you also start too much discussion on CLAT
with different type of people like your classmates, hostel mates, your seniors and many other people. These all
people give you many suggestion that affect your preparation and your preparation leads in a random
directions. Many people give you different schedule, many give you different sources for study, many give you
different study material and so on. So at this point you don’t know what you should follow or what you should
deny and are in a dilemma. At this time your efficiency is at its lowest.
Solution to this problem is to follow completely (Blindly) your teachers/mentors, they are best helping hands at
this time. Discuss as much as you can with your teachers, share every problem with them. They will give you a
suitable solution for your problem. If you cross this first barrier then you face second problem.
At this moment you should know the nature of the subject. Few subjects will take time, they will destroy your
days and night after that they will give you marks. A Few subject will gives you marks easily. So identify your
subjects that will take time and start your preparation and focusing on them. If you don’t focus on your low
scoring subjects than you are not a part of the competition.
Conclusively one point is if we learn only simple things then why we take such time i.e. year break or other one
year and two year’s time.
So, start your preparation with-
“Start where you are, Use what you have, Do what you can”.

It’s a motley collection of books, which will whet your appetite and prepare you for this journey.
How many books from this list have you read? I expect at least one would be the answer. In case you are just beginning, pick
books from this list and dig into them. Read all or most of these books and get some reading confidence behind yourself.
You should also pick-up articles (selectively) from The Hindu, The Indian Express or The Times of India on a daily basis. The
Sunday editions are always the best as they offer a quick re-cap of the week as well as an interesting analysis.
So you can give yourself extra time to read these.
Once you familiarize yourself with basics of the language you can begin your adventure with Reading
Comprehension. Here are some hacks for tackling RC’s: -
You may skip a particular Reading Comprehension question if you are unable to manage time. However, never skip the
comprehension as a whole. Some questions will be easy to answer. Another rookie mistake is to always think about the answer
and almost never about the question. Comprehend the question before attempting to answer it. The answers will not be in a format
of copy-paste from the passage. Read carefully and understand. You are also better off cultivating a habit of taking notes about
pertinent points that you come across while reading passages. It will save you time during the test.
As far as your word power is concerned, it will only improve if you learn making association with a word or else, it
may feel like an endlessly futile exercise.
Above all, TRY, FAIL, RETRY. If you play too safe because you don’t want to fail, then you fail, by default. This
preparation period is a blessing in disguise for you. It can work wonders and upgrade you intellectually, if you allow
it to.
Hoping that you will do EXACTLY that. GODSPEED! In exuberant anticipation,
Anuja Saxena
