Psychological Evaluation Report

Name: Roselle Arevalo

Age: 23 years old

Mental Status Examination

At the time of interview, she was anxious and sweaty because of the hot weather. She

was wearing university uniform with unpolished black shoes. During the interview, she fixed her

hair and sometimes laughing in her interactions with the examiner. Ms. Arevalo reported that

today was a very busy day for her. She reported that she has lot of things to finish and she

doesn’t know how she divided her time. She feels worthless. She didn’t know what to do if her

daughter is sick and a lot of things to do in her school at a time. She panics at that time. Her

speech was loud and pressured. She reported that the other night when she is studying for her

exam her baby cried so loud and she don’t know what to do. She slaps her baby to stop crying.

Ms. Arevalo described how difficult to be a single mom and at the same time a student.

When the examiner asked her where she is at that time of interview she just know that

she is in University of Batangas. She is very talkative person. She talks very loud and fast. She

reported that these past few days she become irritated. She indicates the hot weather in
Philippines opposite to America even if she didn’t go to America before. When the examiner

asked her about suicidality and homicidality, she answered it with a loud and anxious voice.

She stated that she is afraid to die she is wandering if she die who will take care of her

daughter. She doesn’t want to abandon her child at the early age. She wants a better life for her

baby. She also state that if someone hurt her child she kill them.

When the examiner asked her what she brings her for interview, she immediately

response that she know to herself that there is a problem. She has a hesitation before to say

yes to the examiner, but she realize that she need to talk to someone to release her problem.

The client has difficulty in her academic because she stated that it is not her choice, it is choice

by her parents.

Interpretation

The Verbal Reasoning test may be useful in helping to predict success in academic

courses as well as in many occupations while the Numerical Reasoning test measures the

ability to perform mathematical reasoning tasks.


Abstract reasoning is a non-verbal measure of reasoning ability. It assesses how well

individuals can reason with geometric figures or designs while Perceptual Speed and Accuracy

test measures the ability to compare and mark written lists quickly and accurately.

Mechanical Reasoning test measures the ability to understand basic mechanical

principles of machinery, tools and motion while Space Relations test measures the ability to

visualize a three-dimensional object from a two dimensional pattern and to visualize how this

object would look if rotated in space.

In Roselle’s results it seems that she is quiet good in Perceptual Speed and Accuracy.

The test items do not call for reasoning skills; rather the emphasis is on speed. The Perceptual

Speed and Accuracy test may predict success in certain kinds of routine clerical tasks, such as

filing or coding and time management at exams. In this test Roselle get a high score. She is

also fit for certain jobs involving technical and scientific data. She got a lower score in verbal

reasoning and space relations.

the six traits or facets that define each domain.

Neuroticism (N) refers to the chronic level of emotional adjustment and instability. High N

identifies individuals who are prone to psychological distress. Extraversion (E) refers to the

quantity and intensity of preferred interpersonal interactions, activity level, need for stimulation,

and capacity for joy. High E identifies individuals who tend to be sociable, active, talkative,

person oriented, optimistic, fun loving, and affectionate.

motivation in goal-directed behavior. High C identifies individuals who tend to be organized,

reliable, hard-working, self-directed, punctual, scrupulous, ambitious, and persevering.


N Domain

Overall, her responses suggest that she is very high on this factor. Specifically, she is

anxious, generally apprehensive, and prone to worry. She often feel frustrated, irritable, and

angry at others and she is prone to feeling sad and lonely. Embarrassment or shyness when

dealing with people, especially strangers, is often a problem of her. She report being poor at

controlling her impulses and desires and she is unable to handle stress well.

E Domain

The E domain measures traits related to energy and enthusiasm, especially when

dealing with people. Low scorers are serious and introverted; high scorers are outgoing

extraverts. Your total score puts you in the high range on this factor. She tends to be sociable,

active, talkative, person oriented, optimistic, and fun loving, and affectionate.

O Domain

The facets of this domain measure responses to various kinds of experience. Low

scorers are down-to-earth and conventional; they prefer the familiar and the tried-and-true. High

scorers are imaginative and open-minded. She got a very high score in this domain. She is very

active in seeking and appreciation of experiences for their own sake. She is very curious and

imaginative.
A Domain

This domain is concerned with styles of interpersonal interaction. Low scorers are hard-

headed and competitive; high scores compassionate and cooperative. Across the six facets in

this domain, you describe yourself as being very high on this domain. She is soft-hearted and

helpful. She can easily forgive people. She is an altruistic.

C Domain

Traits in this domain describe differences in motivation and persistence. Low scorers

are easygoing and not inclined to make plans or schedules. High scorers are conscientious and

well organized. She is a hard-working and self-directed person. She is very punctual, ambitious,

and perseverance.

Roselle Arevalo is a 24 year old college student of University of Batangas. She is from

Batangas City. She is a single mom of a 5 year old girl. She is the eldest among 2 children of

her parents. She has a sibling, 22 years old brother. She was only 7 years old when her parents

are separated. Her mother leaves them to her grandmother to work in Italy. Her mother has her

own family right now. She has a 11 year old step-sister. Since her father left them, she really

don’t know what happen to his father.

When she were in high school, she have boyfriend but not too serious. She had a lot of

quick relationship. When she reached college, she had a relationship to a man who is older than

her. She got pregnant, but the man did not claim the pregnancy. The man told her that he is not
the father of that child because of many people says that she goes with many boys. Because of

that situation she raised her daughter with her grandmother. She pleased her mother to support

her come back in school for her to finish the college. Her dream is to become doctor since when

she was a child, but because of her mother situation she didn’t pursue the medical course

instead she takes the shortest and practical course.

Summary

Roselle Arevalo 24 year old college students of University of Batangas. Single mother of

a 5 year old girl. She has a difficulty in managing time between parent and academic duties.

She is recently suffering irritation and stress .She always panic if problem occur and didn’t know

how to solve it. The client is poor at controlling her impulses and desires and she is unable to

handle stress well. She is sociable, active and talkative. The client is very curious and

imaginative. She is a soft-hearted person and easily to forgive people.

Recommendation

Teenage motherhood doesn’t have to mean a young woman won’t be successful in life. But it’s

important they consider what other young mothers before them have faced related problem. The

client should talk to a school counselor or social worker regarding services that can assist her.
