Fuentebella pays
Nograles tribuie
In his statement, a copy of which was
obtained by this paper, Cong. Noli
sent his deepest gratitude to Nograles
for his long and unblemished service
to the country
Former Speaker Arnulfo P. Euentebella
yesterdav bade an emotional albeit belated
last farewell to his friend and colleague. former
Speaker Prospero "Boy" Nograles, who passed
away earlier this month.
Rep. Noli as he is fondly called, learned the
passing of Nograles only recently because he had
been sick himself and was just discharged from
the hospital a few days ago.
In his statement, a copy ofwhich was obtained
by this paper. Rep. Noli sent his deepest gralitude
lo Nograles for his long and unblemished service
to the country,
"I wish to extend my deepest condolences
to the family and friends of my friend Speaker
Prospero 'Boy' Nograles. We are thankful for
what he did to our people and our countryn
he said,
i "speaker Boy, thank you very much for your
service as a public servant, legislator and Speaker
of the House,' his statement also read in part.
"When you were still the M4iority Leader, we
spOke about our destiny in the world of politics,,
Fuentebella said.
'We never thought that on that fateful night of
4 February until the early morning of 5 February,
when you ascended to the Speakership, I will be
the one presiding,o he added. ,
'We will never forget those {ayd. And the '
nation will n€ver forget them because those
were already part ofthe history of our country,'
Fuentebella continued.

He represented victims of human rights
violations during the regime ofthe late strongman
Ferdinand Marcos, before supporting the campaign I PAW- /n
ofthe late President Corazon Aquino in the 1986
snap elections,
He was first elected representative of the 1st
District of Davao City in 1989; a post he rryon
again in 1995.
He earned the same mandate in 2001, during
the presidency 0f the current House Speaker
Gloria Macapagal-Anoyo, and was chosen to lead
the chamber in 2008.

legislator, a public servant, a family man and
a great friend. You will be missed,' he also
pointed out.
