Small Group Strengths Activities

Introduction
The StrengthsQuest Activity Workbook contains many activities to help students gain awareness
and knowledge around Strengths as well as how to apply Strengths both inside and outside the
classroom. Below are some Strengths activities to use in small group settings.
When considering activities, we recommend that:

 Small groups activities are ideal for 3-5 individuals.

 Large groups activities are ideal for 6 or more individuals.
 Group activities may not be appropriate for more than 30 students.

Activities:
 ‘At My Best’ (page 2A, 2): This activity can be used as an icebreaker, or it can be used
anywhere in the curriculum to facilitate discussion about talent and strengths. The purpose
of this activity is to get students to think about what they do well and how people use their
strengths in order to be successful.
 ‘StrengthsFinder Reflection’ (page 6A, 6): This activity helps students analyze the
content presented in their Signature Theme Report.
 ‘Talent, Theme, and Strength’ (page 7A, 7): This activity helps students understand and
develop a common language in which they can discuss natural talents and the development
and application of strength.
 ‘Writing Challenge’ (page 8A, 8): This activity can be used to discuss the role talent and
strength play in the success of top achievers.
 ‘Best of the Best’ (page 11A, 11): This activity allows students to talk about individuals
they identify as successful and to see that those qualities that make them successful are
ones they themselves already possess.
 ‘Exploring My Signature Themes’ (page 14A, 14): This activity is designed to help
students gain a greater understanding of their individual talents, providing a basis as
students continue their StrengthsQuest.
 ‘The Great Wall of Talent’ (page 18A, 18): This activity is designed to help students
validate and affirm their signature Themes.
 ‘The Challenge of Affirming My Strengths’ (page 19A, 19): This activity not only helps
students affirm their Signature Themes, but also asks them to examine some of the
challenges we all face when attempting to affirm our natural selves.
 ‘Circle of Strengths’ (page 20A, 20): This activity is designed to help students recognize
evidence of and discuss the role of their themes of talent in their personal behavior. This
activity can be used in groups where the students know each other well or have had
adequate opportunities to interact and bond.
 ‘Secret of My Success’ (page 21A, 21): This activity helps students affirm their Signature
Themes by relating their Signature Themes to past personal success. This process will help
students begin to develop a model of what success looks like and how they got there.
