different kinds of weather?”

2
“Correct. Thank you! Here “Sunny, Rainy and Windy.”
in the Philippines we only
experienced 3 of the
weathers you’ve
mentioned. What are
those?”

Rainy- (of weather, a

period of time, or an area)
having a great deal of
rainfall.

Sunny- having plenty of

bright sunlight.

Windy- marked by a strong

wind or by more wind than
usual.

“Now that we knew the

different Weathers in the
Philippines we’ll now
proceed to the safety
precautions during sunny,
rainy, foggy and windy
days”

groups. The following
Standard for group
activity should be
observed in your
groupings.”

- Collaborate with your

group mates.
- Share ideas with your
group mates.

(The Teacher will Process
all the pupil’s answers)

(Process question)
“What are the
things/activities you are
going to do and will not do
during this kind of
weather?”

Sunny days Possible answers:

We wear light clothes, we
eat cold foods and do not
expose our skin to extreme
heat of the sun”

Rainy days “We wear thick clothes, we

eat warm foods and do not
play on the rain to avoid
cough and colds, use
raincoat/umbrella”

Windy days “We wear thick clothes, we

play kite and we should be
careful with fire”

necessary precautions”

“That ends with our

discussion for today.”

E. Assignment

“Research and advance

tools, applications and
technologies that can

following names of tools:
THERMOMETER
BAROMETER
SLING PSYCHROMETER
RAIN GAUGE
WIND VANE
ANEMOMETER
WIND SOCK
WEATHER MAPS
HYGROMETER
WEATHER BALLOON
COMPASS
WEATHER SATELLITES
YOUR EYES?”

A THERMOMETER Each tools has a video on

measures the air how to use it and pictures
temperature. Most from internet
thermometers are closed
glass tubes containing
liquids such as alcohol or
mercury. When air around
the tube heats the liquid,
the liquid expands and
moves up the tube. A scale
then shows what the actual
temperature is.

A BAROMETER measures
air pressure. It tells you
whether or not the
pressure is rising or falling.
A rising barometer means
sunny and dry conditions,
while a falling barometer
means stormy and wet
conditions. An Italian
scientist named Torricelli
built the first barometer in
1643.

A SLING
PSYCHROMETER
measures relative
humidity, using the cooling
effect of evaporation. Two
thermometers are used in
a sling psychrometer. Wet

7
the cloth of one of the
thermometers and swing
the psychrometer around a
few times. Water
evaporates from the cloth,
causing the temperatures
on that thermometer to be
lower than the other.

A RAIN GAUGE measures

the amount of rain that has
fallen over a specific time
period.

A WIND VANE is an
instrument that determines
the direction from which
the wind is blowing.

An ANEMOMETER
measures wind speed. The
cups catch the wind,
turning a dial attached to
the instrument. The dial
shows the wind speed.

A WIND SOCK is a conical

textile tube, which
resembles a giant sock,
designed to indicate wind
direction and relative wind
speed.

WEATHER MAPS indicate

atmospheric conditions
above a large portion of
the Earth’s surface.
Meteorologists use
weather maps to forecast
the weather.

A HYGROMETER
measures the water vapor
content of air or the
humidity.

A WEATHER BALLOON
measures weather
conditions higher up in the
atmosphere.
A COMPASS is a
navigational instrument for
finding directions.

WEATHER SATELLITES
are used to photograph
and track large-scale air

8
movements. Then
meteorologists compile
and analyze the data with
the help of computers.
YOUR EYES are one of
the best ways to help
detect the weather. Always
keep an eye at the sky and
you’ll usually be on top of
weather conditions.

“That was the different “Yes Sir! There were 13

“Very good! Let’s now

proceed to the different
applications in determining
weather conditions.”

“Class there are a lot of (The Pupils will get their

weather conditions but
they aren’t all true. I have
here AccuWeather app
which based from my
research this is the best
app in determining the
weather conditions. Now
open your phone and I will
pass to you this
application.”

“Before that I will discuss

to you first the definition of
AccuWeather.”

AccuWeather was founded

in 1962 by Joel N. Myers,
then a Pennsylvania State
University graduate
student working on a
master's degree in
meteorology. His first

9
customer was a gas
company in Pennsylvania.
While running his
company, Myers also
worked as a member of
Penn State's meteorology
faculty. The company
adopted the name
"AccuWeather" in 1971.

AccuWeather is
headquartered in State
College, Pennsylvania,
with offices at Rockefeller
Center in Manhattan in
addition to Wichita, KS,
Oklahoma City, OK,
Montreal, Dublin, Tokyo,
Seoul, Beijing and
Mumbai. In 2006,
AccuWeather acquired
WeatherData, Inc. of
Wichita, Kansas. Renamed
AccuWeather Enterprise
Solutions in 2011, the
Wichita facility now houses
AccuWeather's specialized
severe weather
forecasters.

(Activity)
“In performing this activity I “Ok Sir”
want you to stick on this
application only and do not
make unnecessary noise.
Ok?”

“Now I will show you how (the student will participate

to use it through these and obey all the step by

Possible answers:
“Alright, what did you “We observed that this

determine the different
weather conditions in the
Philippines specifically
where I am. I also
observed that there is a
degree Celsius in every
day and every hour of the

day. I also observed that
we can see the prediction
of weather conditions for
the next 15 days.”
“Okay thank you class.”
