Reflection Paper of Company Visits and Seminars

The first visit we had on our local tour is the Mind Museum, where there are various

technologies, history, and scientific studies that were show cased inside the museum, I

have learned the history of technology and how specific devices works electronically and

mechanically. The second visit we had on our local tour is the Gardenia Factory, it is

where gardenia products are made from raw materials to the finished product. A short

introduction to gardenia by means of watching a video presented by the company is

shown and some rules of regulations during the tour were provided to give precautions,

afterwards the staff showed us the manufacturing process on how the machines work to

process that bread to a finished product and their machine operation sections in which a

specific process is delivered by the machine. The third visit in our local tour is the

Schneider Electronic, an introduction about the company is discussed by the staff and the

destinations to be visited in their company together with content of the destination, the

first destination is their administration office where employees tackle software related

products, monitoring of the whole company by using IoT in their workplace, innovation on

their specialty. The second destination in Schneider Electronic is the COM3, it is where

the manufacturing operations is happening, unfortunately I was not able to proceed inside

the COM3 destination because of the attire that I am wearing on that day. The Schneider

Electronic company taught me why having IoT is a big advantage in term of business and

how much time it will save for the company to do certain task that needs to be handled.

The fourth visit we had on our local tour is the Packetworx, it is a hardware and networks

company, an introduction about their company is discussed by an employee and after

that they show cased some hardware that they have made using IoT and their LoRa
network, after the product showcase they showed us their working environment which is

divided into two sections, the manufacturing section and the office section where

employees that are working on codes and hardware that needs implementation of IoT,

there is also a 3 – D printer at hand in the office section. Job offerings were also discussed

and OJT offerings also. I learned on Packetworx the extents of what innovation can do to

the society and business in terms of IoT, to visualize the world of IoT and on how much it

will help us in day to day basis.

The first seminar attended was the Block chain Technology where the speaker

from a certain company discussed the block chain technology and the advantage and

disadvantage of it, alongside of it the implementations that the block chain technology

can do. The block chain technology is said to be secure and easy to use, it is discussed

that it is widely used in the business and games companies today and having this

technology is a big advantage without much disadvantage in it. The second seminar

attended is the Python Programming which was handled by our professor in DLSU – D,

its more like a workshop since we experienced it hands on. The topic is discussed with

exercises that will challenge the students using the syntax and logics used in the

discussion. The third seminar is the Advanced Database Implementation, this seminar

was handled by a part time professor in DLSU – D, it is more like a workshop than a

seminar since the discussion was hands on. Introduction in database was discussed

proceeding to the queries and on how to put values on the database was shown on the

spot. The fourth seminar attended was the Digital Integrated Circuit Design, the seminar

was handled by a professor in MAPUA Manila. An introduction about the topic was

discussed together with its implementation and how circuits are design with their specific
step by step process. The fifth seminar attended was the Embedded Systems for Industry

4.0 and is also discussed by a professor in MAPUA Manila. The topic is all about IoT in

the business operations in the industry and components to be considered with it, the

advantages and disadvantages of having IoT in the industry.
