Daily Promises of God

for educators 1st John 1:9

NIV - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from
all unrighteousness.

RSV - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from
all unrighteousness.

KJV - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from
all unrighteousness.

LB - But if we confess our sins to him, he can be depended on to forgive us and to cleanse us
1

from every wrong. And it is perfectly proper for God to do this for us because Christ died to
wash away our sins.

Note to the educator

Y

Why is it so hard to confess? Is it because it’s embarrassing or because we can just ignore it
and maybe it will go away? 1st John 1:9 is one of the greatest promises God has given us that
takes an action on our part in order for Him to do His part. If we confess our sins, it’s a
A

guarantee that He will forgive them. In fact, He already has. There’s something so powerful
about confessing as He then cleanses us from all unrighteousness. What are the mistakes
and sins you would like to have opportunity to do over next school year? Take them and
confess to your Lord and you will truly start with a clean slate next year.
