INTRODUCTION

The K-12 Curriculum – TVL Agri-Crop strand is offered to

Senior High School learners. Agriculture is very important to
the people because it is the main source of our basic necessity
to survive. Food is a necessary for the human body, most
especially the vegetables and other crops that are rich sources
of nutrients and minerals which have a greater impact to the
nutritional condition of the Filipinos.

It has been observed that vegetables and other crop products

mostly come from the commercial vegetable growers in the country.
When those vegetables and other crops are being sold in the local
market, these become expensive. The production of vegetables in
the school and backyards can help augment the supply of vegetable
to the family and even the neighborhood.

This program of the Naisud National High School (SHS) “Work

Immersion” of Grade 12 TVL - Agri-Crop in partnership with
Sericulture Center, enables the learners to appreciate and develop
the skills required in Agri- Crop production.

Problems/Issues Encountered and Resolutions

PROBLEMS:

1. The first problem I encountered is the distance of Sericulture

Center from our school.

2. The second problem, are the limited facilities like chairs and
tables and even shed to protect us from the hot weather.

3. The third problem is; it is a little bit hard for us to cross

the river especially when the water current is very strong.

4. The fourth problem is the insufficient tools and materials

needed for farming.

5. The last problem is; it takes more than a half-hour hike for us
to reach our immersion site.

SOLUTIONS:

1. We hired a tricycle for our service.

2. Sharing with our classmates.

3. We ride “balsa” if the current of water is strong and have flash

flood.

4. If the tools and materials are not present in the farm site, we
just used our hands.

5. Patience is the only solution and we also need to bring water

to fuel our body.
MY JOURNAL

DAY 1 (February 4, 2019)

It was the first day of our work immersion, , Monday; we

had our short orientation with Mr. Jesry Maquirang. Before the
orientation starts, we introduced ourselves and gave the reasons
why we choose this strand. Our first speaker orients us about
the business processes of company, he also discussed the
importance of patience. He also talked about sericulture, it is
a culturing worms where it can produce an expensive silk.
According to him “indi kinahangean do aeam, basta maghugod
eang”.

DAY 2 (February 5, 2019)

Second day, another day has come, we also practice how to use
a hand tractor. Before doing so, our immersion teacher and partner
supervisor gave us the instruction first and demonstrate how to
use it correctly. And in the afternoon we performed healing up in
the sunflower garden.

DAY 3 (February 6, 2019)

Third day, we performed and prepared the land for planting;

conduct field lay-out and constructed a canal.

DAY 4 (February 7, 2019)

Thursday, we performed hardening in the Sampaguita garden.

Mr. Jesry Maquirang demonstrate us the proper way of hardening.

DAY 5 (February 8, 2019)

It’s Friday morning same as yesterday we performed a hardening

in the sampaguita garden. We also experienced on how to prune a
sampaguita plant.
DAY 6 (February 18, 2019)

It was Monday, the sixth day of our immersion, as requested

by Mr. Maquirang we collected stones in the river for the designs
in sunflower garden. On the afternoon we tried to harvest mulberry
fruits.

DAY 7 (February 19, 2019)

During that day, again we harvest a mulberry fruit, and after

harvesting Mr. Maquirang taught/demonstrate us on how to feed a
silkworm properly.

DAY 8 (February 20, 2019)

It was Wednesday morning we practiced on how to use a sprayer

for insecticide. Before doing so, our immersion teacher and partner
supervisor give us the instruction and demonstrate on how to use
it correctly. I honestly enjoy this activity. We also performed on
how to pruned a mulberry plant.

DAY 9 (February 21, 2019)

It was Thursday, during the entire day, we performed a under

grassing in the sampaguita garden. We really tired, but as well as
enjoyed in the experienced that we had.

DAY 10 (February 22, 2019)

It was Friday and the last day of our work immersion. We

performed again the under grassing in the mulberry garden. And in
the afternoon we tried to harvest a cocoon. Having a work
immersion, we are grateful and lucky to have an experienced on
that activity. We learned new skills and knowledge, from this it
can be our weapon for facing a new challenge in the near future.
We are also blessed to have our mentor who are always there to
guide us and our principal to support for our future.
REFLECTION

Work immersion program provide us student a “real place”

experience, giving us a set of technical-vocational and livelihood
skills that can help us to make informed a career choice and
improved our employment prospects.

Work immersion give an important role to us, it helped me to

shaped and developed my skills. My training enhanced my
understanding of what is really happening outside the four corners
of our classroom.

During the Work Immersion, I’d really value the time and work
that we do with my classmates. It made me understood that
“Experience is the best Teacher”. It helps us to build our hidden
talents and skills that we have in the field of agriculture. The
challenges that we’ve experienced made us to learn and know the
right thing to do. Unbelievable! Thinking that it is hard to
finished those amidst of difficulties that we had during the
immersion
but we “made it”.

Preparing the documents is one of the challenging part needed

in our immersion. But I’m grateful that became familiar to those
agencies that are responsible for releasing the required
documents, not just for immersion but also for my future use.

Success!
