ABSTRACT
Stroke is a major health problem in the world, and one of the causes of death,
disability and declining quality of human life. Stroke causes hemiparese, the decreasing of
ability to move on one side of the extremities. The aim of this research is to know the
influence of passive range of motion (ROM) exercise on muscle strength in hemiparese
post-stroke non haemoragic patients in RSUD Kanjuruhan Kepanjen. Experimental design
with one group pre-test and post-test design, consecutive sampling sampling technique,
with sample of 20 people. Data collects using manual muscle testing (MMT) observation
sheet. Data analysis statistic test using dependent sample T-Test. There is an influence of
passive range of motion (ROM) exercise on muscle strength in hemiparese post-stroke
non haemoragic patients in RSUD Kanjuruhan Kepanjen, with p value = 0, 000 <α (0,05).
The influence of passive range of motion (ROM) exercises on muscle strength, in
hemiparese patients is caused by the treatment of passive ROM stimulating brain cells to
work better, resulting in increased muscle strength.
