Why Registered Nursing is the best job

To what extent is nursing a good career choice? Nurses are a big part of

our community. As a nurse it is important to be caring, compassionate, understanding,

honest and open minded. Nursing is the best career to pick because nurses are in such

high demand. With so many elders retiring more jobs will open up for new nurses to

take their place. The indeed blog stated “ as the population ages there will be even

greater demand for healthcare professionals, including nurses and unlike many other

fast growing jobs, the doors of a nursing career are open.” The association of American

Medical colleges expect a shortage of 90,000 nurses by 2025. The Knightdale College

says “ with tens of thousands of jobs already available in the United States for

registered Nurses, it's safe to assume the number will only grow in the near future.

Nursing rate of getting a job always increases and many jobs are available. “The

growth rate across the board in different kinds of professions is about 11 percent, but

nursing is growing at a 19% rate. In the 10 year period predict that over half a million

new nursing jobs will be added.” There is such a strong demand for quality healthcare,

especially because of the aging population and also as more people gain insurance

coverage and access to care”. Marian University stated “with the United States Bureau

of Labor statistics listing the profession as one of the fastest growing in the nation. We

could be looking at a nationwide shortage of at least a million nurses by year 2020.”

There are so many reason that nursing is a great career path to follow. All guides

about RN schools and programs stated there's “flexible work schedules, high salary

packages, health insurance, maternity leaves and its a life long of learning”. Nursing is

so flexible you can choose if you want to be full time or part time and if you take time off

you can find work fast again. Nursing is everywhere, you can choose where you would

like to work. You could even be a nurse that travels to different places. The career of

nursing is such a highly respected field. “ Many nurses find that this is one of the most

personally rewarding fields they could imagine.” ( Nurse Journal Social Community

Worldwide)

“Nursing is a field of continued learning and no day is ever boring. People and

their illness are always changing, which means that a nurse’s day is also always

changing”.(Masters in nursing) Nursing is such a great career choice for women or

others who want the flexibility of raising a family mostly because of flexible work

schedules. “The good news is that nursing has not stopped becoming a great career

option for women, for those who are willing to spend a few more years in school, high

salary, plenty of opportunities and a flexible work schedule.” (the gypsy nurse) Nursing

is such a rewarding career. Nursing has unlimited job opportunities and this profession

will always be in such high demand.

To become a nurse you would need to pass an approved nursing program

and a licensing exam. There are many different options you can choose. You can

choose to get an associates degree in nursing or a bachelors of science degree. “Most

medical facilities are increasingly requiring a bachelor's degree.” “ In fact the Institute of

Medicine recommends that 80 percent of the nursing workforce hold a Bachelor of

Science in nursing by 2020.”(allnursingschools.com) “You need to have an high school

diploma or GED in order to apply for a nursing program.” After graduation from a

program you will have to take and pass the NCLEX exam. After you pass the exam you

can get an Registered Nurse license. An associates degree will usually take two years

but a Bachelors of science in nursing will most likely take four years.

“Registered nurses have the same potential to specialize in areas like neonatal,

pediatric, geriatric, surgical and emergency medical care.” (everynurse.org). In order to

specialize in an area you will need to become skilled and knowledgeable about that

area of medical care. You will be required to take a certain number of classes and gain

work experience in that field. After you complete all these prerequisites then you have to

pass a specialty exam in order to work as a specialized registered nurse.

Nurses are and will always be in such a high demand. According to Nightingale

College ”The good news is that nursing is one of the safest career paths when it comes

to job security” “ A new report released this month confirmed that prediction, citing

nursing as the most in demand job in 2016.”(ameritech.edu) The population is getting

older and more people are retiring every day. “ This demand is mostly due to the fact

the average age of nurses in the United States is over 50 and growing.”There is more

and more treatment options being made for all different kind of illnesses. This is why

becoming a registered nurse would be a great career choice.
