Description: 286 Airline Filter
The 286 Airline Filter removes moisture, oil mist, odor and particulates from compressed air designated for breathing
air or pneumatic tools. When installed and maintained properly, it will prove to be a dependable component in your
abrasive blasting operation.
Operational Requirements
The 286 Airline Filter is effective and durable under intended use conditions.
The following may cause safety hazards or reduced performance:
Improper maintenance
Failure to replace filter cartridge when necessary
Improper disassembly and/or incorrect reassembly
Not ensuring filter is upright and situated on flat, stable ground
Excessive pressure supplied to unit (100 psi max)
Excessive temperature of air supplying unit (140° F max )
Operating Instructions
Before using:
Inspect Airline Filter components; ensure there are no cracks, holes or debris in the filter.
Ensure all fittings are secure and airtight.
Ensure Airline Filter is installed correctly and situated on level surface.
Ensure air filter and respirator system hoses are NOT connected to non-air, in-plant lines, which may contain
nitrogen, oxygen, acetylene or other non-breathable gases.
During use:
Adjust air pressure to meet the requirements of the air respirator or pneumatic tool (100 psi max).
Open petcock as necessary to drain water and/or oil from filter housing.

check the following: RELEASE OF UNSECURED FILTER COMPONENTS, CAUSING DEATH OR
SERIOUS INJURY.
Symptom/Cause Action
Inadequate airflow Adjust pressure regulator knob until PSI gauge shows required
pressure is being achieved for component(s) being supplied.
Also, ensure adequate air pressure is available for number of
respirators or components being supplied. Increase air volume
and/or remove components until total air requirement is
achieved (see component’s operator’s manual for PSI and CFM
requirements).
OPEN PETCOCK LOCATED AT BOTTOM OF FILTER TO DO NOT EXCEED MAXIMUM PRESSURE OF 100 PSI AT THE
DRAIN WATER FROM FILTER HOUSING. THE PETCOCK FILTER INLET. FAILURE TO KEEP MAXIMUM PRESSURE
CAN ALSO BE ADJUSTED TO A SLIGHTLY OPEN POSITION BELOW 100 PSI COULD CAUSE THE AIRLINE FILTER TO BURST,
TO ALLOW CONTINUAL DRAINAGE. CAUSING DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY.
