SPECIFICATION FOR THE CURRENT TRANSFORMERS

1. Construction The current transformers shall be plain ring type with secondary leads
brought out to terminals, rigidly attached to the transformer.
All transformers shall be fully tropicalized. They shall be constructed
in such a manner for mounting on continuous runs of cables or
busbars.

2. Windings The conductors used for the primary and secondary windings shall be
of continuous copper material.
The current transformers shall be insulated by means of an insulating
PVC material between the primary and secondary windings. The
insulating PVC shall be at least 2 layers around the current
transformer.

3. Rated secondary The rated secondary current shall be five amperes.

current

4. Rated primary The rated standard primary currents shall be 200, 300, 500, 1000,
current 1500 and 2000 amperes.

5. Classes and rated The class of the current transformer shall be 0.5 and the rated burden
burdens shall be 5 volt-amperes at 50 cycles per second.

6. Limits of errors The ratio error and phase displacement at rated frequency shall not
exceed the limits given below, when the secondary burden is any
value from 25% to 100% of the rated burden.

Ratio error and phase displacement at percentage of rated current

5% 20% 100% and 120%

Ratio Error Phase Ratio Error Phase Ratio Error Phase

± Percentage Displacement ± Percentage Displacement ± Percentage Displacement
± minutes ± minutes + minutes

1.5 90 min 0.75 45 min 0.5 30 min

7. Phase The current transformers shall be suitable for single phase metering
purposes.

8. Testing and The following tests shall be carried out on the current transformers in
standards accordance with IEC 61869-2 Edition 1.0 or acceptable equivalent
National Standards:
i) Limits of ratio error and phase difference
ii) High-voltage test
iii) Temperature-rise
11. Termination The secondary winding shall be soldered to L-shaped tinned brass
plates of not less than 1.2 mm thick and 12.5 mm in width. On each
terminal shall be provided one hexagonal-head bolt, two nuts, two
washers and one spring/lock washer. The sequence shall be bolt to
terminal, lock washer, one nut tightened and follow by two washers
and nut. The size shall be M6, length shall be within 20 to 25 mm and
material used shall be tinned/plated brass except the spring/lock-
washer which can be plated steel. The distance between the two
terminals shall be not less than 45 mm.

12. Schedule Supplier shall complete and submit the appended Schedules where
applicable. Non-compliance with this requirement shall be disqualified.

13. Sample Current A sample current transformer for each ratio shall be submitted within
Transformer two weeks after quotation close.
The quotation will not be considered if the request is not submitted
within the stipulated period.

14. Test results and Each transformer shall be tested at 25% & 100% rated burden at
certificates standard frequency of 50Hz at the following percentage of rated
current:
i) 120%
ii) 100%
iii) 20%
iv) 5%
Each transformer shall be tested to prove compliance with inter-turn
insulation requirements.
Test certificates shall be supplied, stating clearly the ratio and phase
angle errors of each transformer, on or before delivery.

15. Liquidated Liquidated damages will be imposed at a rate of 1% per week or part
damages thereof the delay portion, subject to maximum of 10% of the order
value.

16. Arrangement of Supplier shall ensure that the current transformers are tied together
delivery with raffia string in a set of three and arranged in ascending order of
Singapore the serial number from bottom to top, upon delivering the CTs to
Store Company’s Store.

17. Warranty Period The warranty period is 12 months.
