ABOUT MALAKOFF

Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”) is the

leading Independent Power Producer in Malaysia
with the core focus on power generation,
water desalination, as well as captive electricity
distribution and district cooling. Backed by
decades of technical expertise, Malakoff offers
comprehensive solutions in Operations and
Maintenance (O&M) services for power and water
plants. Currently, Malakoff is Malaysia’s largest
independent power producer (IPP), with a net
generating capacity of 5,020 MW from its six (6)
power plants that run on coal and gas.
On the international front, Malakoff has interests in power and
water desalination plants located in the Middle East & North Africa.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Tanjung Bin Power Plant Shuaibah III, Saudi Arabia

(700 MW x 3, Coal)
Tanjung Bin is the first private coal-fired plant in Malaysia as well as the
biggest coal-fired IPP in South-East Asia. It incorporates clean technologies
such as Electrostatic Precipitators (ESP) and Flue Gas Desulphurisation
(FDG). The construction of the Tanjung Bin power plant was completed on
schedule, within 48 months and 16 days from its commencement date. The
project was also completed below budget.
Lumut Power Plant
(651.5 MW x 2 CCGT)
Block 1 and 2 achieved COD one month and six months ahead of schedule,
respectively. Lumut is also one of the largest CCGT plants in Asia.

Shuaibah III is the first independent water and power plant in Saudi Arabia and
one of the largest IWPP projects in the world.
Souk Tleta Desalination Plant, Algeria
(200,000 m3/day desalination plant)
Souk Tleta desalination plant is Malakoff’s first project in Northern Africa. At
more than 440,000 m3/day of filtration flow, the ultrafiltration pre-treatment
is one of the biggest ultrafiltration plants in the world. The plant produces
200,000 m3/day of portable water from sea water, using reverse osmosis
(“SWRO”) technology and serves the Wilaya of Tlemcen in Algeria.

GB3 Power Plant

(640 MW x 1 CCGT)
GB3 is an additional CCGT block adjacent to Lumut Power Plant. The project
managed to achieve COD more than two months ahead of schedule. It has
similar configurations with Block 1 & 2 of Lumut Power Plant.
Prai Power Plant
(350 MW x 1 CCGT)
Prai is a single-shaft plant and the first of its kind in South-East Asia. Prai
Power Plant has also the highest thermal efficiency rate in Malaysia.
Al Hidd Water and Power Plant, Bahrain
(929 MW, 410,000 m3/day
desalination plant)
Al Hidd Water and Power Plant is amongst the largest independent water
and power projects in Bahrain, providing approximately 39% and 62% of the
Kingdom’s current power and water supply respectively. This plant uses two
different distillation methods for the water desalination process, which are the
Multi-Stage Flash and the Multi Effect Distillation.

Kapar Power Plant

(2,420 MW Coal, Oil and Gas)
Kapar Power Plant is a multi-fuel thermal power station, with four (4)
generating facilities with a total of eight (8) Units, comprising six (6) steam
turbines and two (2) gas turbines, where either coal or gas is used as primary
fuels.
