PROCEDURE TEXT

Procedure text is a text that gives us instructions for doing something

The purpose procedure text is to tell the reader how to do or make something.

The Structure of Procedure Text consist of :

1. Goal (title) : tell/show the purpose.

2. Materials : telling the needed materials.

3. Steps : describing the steps to achieve the purpose.

Language Feature of Procedure

a. Using temporal conjunction (in written text) -

> first, second, third,then, next, finally, at last, etc.

b. Using action verb.

c. Using imperative sentence -> Add some sugar, use the spoon to stir it, etc.

d. Using Simple Present Tense.

e. Use command words (cut…; pour…; fold…)

f. Use correct technical terms.

g. Most sentences start with a verb.

h. Exact details or information.

i. Add the sentences introducers/sequencers (in spoken text):

Example Procedure Text :

Goal/Aim: How Can You Operate The TV

Television can be operating easily. We can turn on and change the channel of television set
easily. To on this television we need a cable and stop contact. Then follow this instruction.
Steps/Methods:
1.Connect the cable of television to an AC wall outlet
2.Switch the television on by pressing the button of power
3.Chose the channel you like by pressing the button of the channel
4.Enjoy the program you like
If you want to turn on the television or change the channel from far distance, use a remote. It will
help you to operate the television easily
