Quality of Space
Conditioned spaces will follow the design criteria set in ASHRAE 55 2010 assuming a
clothing level of 0.5 – 1. Based on outdoor air conditions, a cooling setpoint between
22 – 24 is ideal. This comfort criteria is further illustrated described below:

In order to achieve ASHRAE 55-2010 comfort criteria for naturally ventilated spaces,
a high volume low speed fan is proposed. The architecture encourages cross
ventilation, however it is anticipated that an active means of inducing natural
ventilation is required. Below is the comfort criteria for naturally conditioned spaces.

All dining areas and sitting areas will have access to views while daylight may be
limited to roughly 50% of occupants.
Water Use
The project is targeting a reduction of 30% on potable water. During the
sustainability design charrette, it was evident that low flow fixtures would be the
key. Reusing grey water was not advised as the restaurants can experience heavy
use and cleanliness is import in attracting visitors. A rain water harvesting system
was also considered for irrigation. The limited scope of irrigation coupled with the
need for a rain water cistern has made it so that reusing rainwater was not
attractive. Below are they different schemes for which the project can meet their
water use reduction targets.

Sneak Peek - Regenerative Classroom
• Focus on Passive Design
• Energy Use: Lighting, Ventilation, Plug Load
• Energy Generation: PV
• Initial design calls for 2,400 kwh / year
• Initial PV generation calculations show 9,600 kwh / year
• Annual savings of 7,200 kwh / year roughly 72,000 php / year
we’re just getting started
