[About the Crimes of the Israel]

Text: Hosea 7:8-16

INTRODUCTION (background)

Before we start and begin our proper sharing of our Sermon, let’s do have first an ice breaker so that we our
blood vessel be awake and our spiritual momentum be alive.

*An Ice Breaker about the Guilty or not Guilty

*Each Verse that I may tell to them I call someone after sharing, and ask a question “Guilty or not Guilty”

*to explain about this “a flat cake not turned over.” v:8
-This symbolizes those with either divided heart or love for the Lord. (Who is our First Love?) Explain reason
why Israelites being far from God.

*The second is that “an old man with sprinkled gray hair,” who doesn’t know that foreigners have been sapping
his strength. v:9
-We see this type of Christians or we can say our members who have been attending churches for many years
and believe they are holy and righteous. But the truth of the matter is that they don’t even know that they just
only believe by them own self.

*To highlight about the consequences of being an arrogance (proud-mind-heart) v:10

*last thing is “a dove which is easily deceived” and senselessly flying to Egypt and Assyria .v:11 -This is the
kind of people who will go wherever they think will offer benefits or assistance.
-They didn’t trust God at this moment but instead, they make an alliance to the Egypt and to Assyria.

* move away aimlessly from a group or from the right course or place (Strayed from God ) v13.

These are some crimes | sins that are inevitably (they can’t manage to stop) so that it produces terrible results:
It will hurt God’s heart, so that you will bear no fruit in your spiritual life. Furthermore, you will not be exemplary
(to be a good model) to the unbelieving world.

This is why David prayed: Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided
heart, that I may fear your name (Psalm 86:11).

How do we follow the Lord with single-minded heart and focus? So In this passage that I am going to share
with you, on how may we serve this as a reminder on how we can be exemplary, to the others and also to do
this as a hobby in our Christian living?

First Point- Be Watchful! & Pay Attention

In every moment and situation, be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring
lion looking for someone to devour. - 1 Peter 5:8. If we didn’t pay attention, we might fall down to the pit of this
trap, and be conquered by the world.

Now this day, Elections are nearly come, and some of us here are a voters and be need to be contribute as a
part of community or either as a citizen of the Philippines. Many of us might be heard about the good promise
of the many politicians will run just for them to won in their desired position. Some of them are just running due
to their own persona agenda’s and own benefits.

Us! Filipinos’ who are doesn’t care we let that happen, reason for them to be an arrogant and use their power
to over use us. Letting them ruined and trash our country.

In similar to the grained (a type of plant) when they are grew up, they became tall and afterwards they head
are bowing down to the ground, portraying a sense of humbleness and humility to others.

Which in the life of the Israelites, they became arrogant and proud person.

In some ways we’ve been guilty in a way sometimes we don’t know?

Being WATCHFUL, > > >it doesn’t only pertain for this election matter. It is most useful to us, as a Christian
who believe and follow into our Lord Jesus Christ, most probably when it comes into our relationship into our
Lord.

Being watchful & to pay our attention we can able to determine

Are we far away from God or am I near to him?

How about you? __________________ (call some person) are we far or near?

We might feel in ourselves whether we are far from God or not? Isn’t it? ______________

As I mention to you lately, having a divided heart or other love rather than to the Lord. Is an effect of being not
watchful to ourselves, reason we are getting easily catch by someone else or either other things (pertaining to
the others) so, who is our First Love? ________________ (other else? Maybe?)

Revelation 2:4-5 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love ?you had at first. Consider how far you
have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your
lampstand from its place.

So GMC Youth, would like to happen in your life, in this same scenarios like Israelites? _______

-Looking in much more, and reading the book of Hosea; stated that from Chapters 4-11 (including the passage
today; Hosea 7:8-16) about the cause and effect of Israelites, about their unfaithfulness, they show about the
lack of knowledge in the Land) specially when the times they move away aimlessly from a God (strayed &
rebelled) v:13

-In reality, are we guilty or not guilty? ____________

- - - > Lying to God, Rebelled to him, - - - > result of - - - - > Disobedience?

So what are we going to do? _____________

Yes to Pay Attention! As ease as always.

Why we should do this?

a. We are a chosen people of God if we depart from Him, everything will be very hard.
(Story of the Israelites from Egypt to the Promise Land, on how God able to provide their supervision)
b. If we forgot! his grace and his mercy, also effect we will be far from God, more over the consequences
above in our Introduction
Second Point- Cry out and Come back into our Lord!

Cry out means; call the name of the Lord! How you can call the name of the Lord? Through how? By prayer.

14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from
their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14

We always heard and always listen to this that the prayer is a breath of Christian, so we should be doing these
at all times! (Guilty or not Guilty)- forgetting to pray lead us to become an arrogance! Proud! also it kills our
spirit.

When we pray! What are the first things that we should ask!

a. Asking for the Kingdom of God (Guilty or not guilty)

b. He’s willing, favor and guidance (Guilty or not guilty)
c. Deep communication into our Father God (Guilty or not guilty)

Besides, whether we are in this situation, when we knew that we are far from God, we should turn back to the
ways that we are doing! (REPENT)

Repent; feel or express sincere regret or remorse about one's wrongdoing or sin.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9 | NIV

2.1 Never compromise to the World- v8: “Ephraim mixes with the nations;… ()
Effect of compromising! : v:13 - Woe to them, because they have strayed from me!, Destruction to them,
because they have rebelled against me ! I long to redeem them, but they speak about me falsely.

GMC Youth, I know you don’t want to experience like this kind of situation, so now, if we have some kind of this
similar situation, as soon as possible we need to go back to the Lord immediately, without hesitation.

If else! We knew already the consequences

Conclusion

Hosea explores and exposes the Causes and Effect of Israel Unfaithfulness (We are like
Israelites) He says numerous times that Israel lacks all knowledge | understanding of God. In this, we
should NOT go far way, nor move away from God! but instead, to have more closure relationship.
(Guilty or not guilty  most of the Christian, are more likely love the worldly things rather than to God).

If we are far, what do we do, we should turn around. Stop! and move back! to way, and restore our First
Love into our Lord Jesus Christ.

*We should Watch ourselves! Pay Attention, and Cry out and Come back into our Lord!
