is extremely interesting how students are guided but not taught; teachers give guidelines and

"What’s great about a hospitality degree is that you come out with experience, other programs
don’t do that. Sometimes people go into a master’s without experience and then even with their
degree they must start at the bottom, although they probably have the skills to grow and build
their careers faster. In the MBA, you also build the capacity to learn, adapt and advance much
faster. It is important to come into the degree with experience as it gives you the know-how,
and it makes you work hard, but then the MBA makes you work harder, you learn to push big
projects, to complete lengthy papers, etc. It is sort of the same environment as a hospitality
world with the fast-paced environment.”

The Internship Semester
Internships add a critically important dimension to a graduate
education. You will have the chance to practice the operational and
management skills you learned on campus and deepen your practical
knowledge and understanding of the industry. Your internship can also
be a good opportunity to improve your foreign language skills, which
are increasingly essential in today’s global economy.

Of course, Glion internships are also door openers. Many employers

offer permanent positions to interns who impress them. Without
question, the real-world success of Glion graduates is accelerated by
their internships.

At the end of the academic program, students of the Master of Science

in International Hotel Management complete a one-semester internship
in the industry.

THE INDUSTRY NETWORK

Top Brands Recruit Our Students

Our career development department is very active in helping students secure employment upon graduation. Each semester, representatives
from more than 50 globally influential companies visit Glion to recruit graduating students. Many Glion graduates enjoy immediate
employment and accelerated promotion.

"Marriott International has a long and successful partnership with Glion, and for many years
we have benefited greatly by supporting career opportunities for excellent graduate talent
entering our industry. Career representations and educational tutorials have been made by
leaders and recruiters from all our continent locations who value the opportunity to interact
with great talent. It’s vital that anyone who is entering our business, and seeking a career
journey to management and leadership, first understands how to practically apply craft skills
and strategize within the core business parameters.

We find that Glion students demonstrate this effectively, and therefore they assimilate very well
into our hotels and other more specialist roles we may have, that is, at our head office locations.
We have seen great project work undertaken by a number of Glion graduates, all having a
direct impact on driving our business forward. We are seeing new technologies emerging in
the social space, and students have offered new direction in how to leverage these trends."

"Glion gave me the opportunity to start a global network, apart from my professional
contacts, that has been of great use so far. This really diverse and international environment
(27 nationalities in a class of 52!) helped me develop myself to see people for who they
are, accept differences, and accept some really unfamiliar ideas that I was introduced to
by my classmates, which I found astonishing. Did Glion help me to get my job? Definitely.
The job opportunity was posted by Glion’s career center - and the academic background
that I gained from Glion, plus having graduated from such a well-reputed school, definitely
gave me a boost during the shortlisting."

INDUSTRY TESTIMONIAL

"The reason we come to recruit at Glion is because Glion has

such a great reputation in Switzerland and around the world
for attracting great students to study their variety of courses.

The courses are well suited to the industry, in particular to

the luxury industry which we are a part of, so we chose to
partner with Glion for the caliber of their courses and the
caliber of their students.

Students from all schools bring talent and a variety of skills to

the hospitality industry. The difference with Glion students is
that they have a very good balance between their practical skills
and theoretical skills, which some of the other hotel schools
may not focus on as much. It's the mixture of skills from the
service side and the management theory which makes Glion
of particular interest to Ritz-Carlton."

INDUSTRY TESTIMONIAL

“We have been working with Glion now for many years and
we always look forward to coming to the school twice a
year to recruit for the various programs we have. What we
appreciate about the students is that there is a really nice
balance between the education and the practical experience
that the students have.

One of the soft skills we look for in a graduate is attitude.

Attitude is everything. But along with a positive attitude and
passion, the one key thing that the Mandarin Oriental Hotel
Group looks for is humility. This is the ability to come from a
place of wanting to serve with a sense of grace and Oriental
heritage culture.”
