Food scarcity is a huge issue everywhere. Why is it that there are people starving in
different countries yet the U.S. wastes perfectly good food everyday? In countries like Africa, there
are conflicts such as government issues and climate change which is impacting everyone
everywhere. It is a main effect of food scarcity and starvation. The main goal to be worked on is to
end starvation. It could be very simple to end food scarcity but people choose the wrong thing to
support.
In recent events, a famous church named the Notre Dame Cathedral, was on fire ruining
many things inside. The church is very well known and people were devastated to hear it was
burning down. Wealthy people donated around one billion dollars to help rebuild it. The issue with
the donations are that they could’ve been used for other major issues that include people instead of
buildings. To stop world issues including food scarcity, everyone needs to focus on it first and have
a plan.
Recently, there have been many ways that people are taking action to food scarcity and
world hunger. Different countries have attempted at helping to stop world hunger with having the
countries government supply people with the right crops they need. Doing this gives the people a
better supply of the right foods. Another country has been generous and gave their people money
for the food that was ruined by the weather. It is the little stuff that can help the people the most.

The United States wastes about forty percent of all produce. That is about $160 billion
dollars and 60 millions of food wasted. A main cause of this includes cheaper prices for food.
Solving this issue could happen in a lot of ways. For example, since the U.S. has tons of food that
is wasted, they could donate the unsold food. Doing this could end world hunger in most countries.
Another idea could be going to countries and planting crops for them. In some countries, people do
not have enough money to buy crops to plant. Planting it for the people and giving them donations
Africa is one of the leading countries of world hunger but they are yet in the top countries
to have an excess amount of crops including tomatoes. The problem is the tomatoes were not
edible after three days because they were not correctly stored. Most countries need better ways of
taking care of their crops so that they can have more and not waste them. Fruits and vegetables are
simple to grow and require less land than meat. If countries planted more healthy options instead of
farming cows, there may be a greater percent of food for the people. It is a simple process to donate
food to countries but why is it not happening? The answer is that even the U.S. includes itself in
world hunger. 1 in 8 americans do not have enough access to enough food and healthy foods. Most
americans who have a healthier diet are more likely to waste food.
My own opinion is that I think it would be beneficial for everyone to spend money on
donations for people to not end up starving. I find it terrible that one of the countries that wastes the
most food, still ends up having their own people starving. If the government was not so focused on
little things that really do not matter, we would be solving and ending food scarcity and world
hunger.

In conclusion, the ways to solve food scarcity require donations and money. Africa is
currently working on solving their own world hunger problems and the U.S. is helping by
Americans going over and giving food donations. There are also funds people may donate to
which the money will help people who are in need of food. It will cost around thirty billion dollars
each year to completely end world hunger. The number of people starving is constantly declining.
