#Answer the following:

1) What does it mean to treat people equally?


Ans: Treating people equally means that you treat them the same, regardless of their
race, social status or anything else like that.
2) What does it mean to treat people fairly?
Ans: Treating people fairly means that you treat them in ways that are most
appropriate to their needs.
3) What do equality and Justice mean?
Ans: Equality assumes everyone is the same, has the same abilities and
talents. Justice doesn't. Justice is about making things accessible for all by
giving equal opportunities.

I. Questions for Discussion after reading the Story of Rajeef: (I Have the right to play)

1) What do we call the attitude of the classmates who refused to let Rajeef participate in the game?

Ans: The classmates who refused to play with Rajeef were unfair. They showed discrimination because
he was not like them.

2) How do you think Rajeef felt when his classmates refused to let him play with them?

Ans: Rajeef felt very hurt and sad about the way his classmates behaved. He felt like he had no friends.

3) If you were one of Rajeef’s classmates, what would you have done? Why?

Ans: If I were one of Rajeef’s classmates, I would have stood up for him and would have told the others
not to be unfair to Rajeef because he is just like us. We should not show discrimination towards
anyone.

4)What do you think the referee said?

Ans : The referee would have made sure that Rajeef also played the game and he would have told the
other students that it is bad to be unfair with others. Rajeef is their classmate and they should treat
him just like the others.

#Decide if the situation is fair or unfair:

a) Hessa was going on a trip with her classmates. She took ages deciding what clothes to wear, so was
very late. Her classmates had to wait for a long time- Unfair.

b) Ruba plays the piano every day while her neighbour Walid is studying.-Unfair.

c) A boy’s parents give their son twice as much pocket money as they give to his younger brother-
Unfair.

d) For my birthday I gave the same amount of chocolates to all my classmates- Fair.

e) My aunt came back from her vacation and got gifts for everyone except my younger sister- Unfair.
