A Business Research Method Report

On
JBL T150A & Sennheiser CX 180 & boAt Bassheads 225

Abstract

Business research is the application of the scientific method in searching for the
truth about business phenomena. These activities include defining business
opportunities and problems, generating and evaluating alternative courses of
action, and monitoring employee and organizational Performance. Business
research is more than conducting surveys.

This process includes idea and theory development, problem definition, searching
for and collecting information, analyzing data, and communicating the findings
and their implications. We carried out a market survey on which one is better.

This research is been conducted to understand the consumer requirement and

understand the consumer need/preference when they look for an earphone in the
market. We conducted this search on the top three best-selling earphones in India
and for this we used the survey method of providing a close ended questionnaire to
the population.

We had few question in our minds like which is best JBL T150A or Sennheiser CX
180? What did the people choose? Which is more convenient according to the
users?
Literature Survey
Sennheiser and JBL, are brands that the Indian audiophile market has loved ever
since their inception. Let's see if the products from these popular brands keep up
with the reputation of these good old brands.

Although both these in-ears have fallen into the entry-level budget earphone
categories, they have features that can give complimentary stock earphones a run
for their money.

The Sennheiser CX 180 are one of the most selling earphones in the country. They
have been going off the shelves more frequently than one would guess. No
surprises there as the in-ears have been designed by specifically keeping Indian
sensibilities in mind. German precision for Indian consumption? Indeed.

The JBL T150A is perfect for the music buff who not only wants music on the go
but also prefers the convenience of answering calls, all on a budget!

Both the colors are complimented with a black cord which is 1.1m long and
consists of an inline one-button remote and mic. Answer calls, play/ pause your
music—all on the go. The buck stops there as there are no controls for managing
the volume.

The JBL T150A comes packed with 3 sizes of ear buds, small, medium and large,
ensuring they give a snug, comfy fit. The ear buds are latex-free, have silicone
sleeves and ensure long hours of usage. Comfort is a prized factor when it comes
to looking for a pair of earphones for anybody and JBL hasn't compromised on the
same.

As far as the warranty is concerned, the JBL T150A offers a 1-year manufacturer’s
warranty whereas the Sennheiser CX 180 comes with 2 years warranty. Thus,
displaying Sennheiser's trust in their product.
When it comes to the sound, the CX 180's are biased towards bass. But Indians as a
community are a happy bunch of bass-lovers and Sennheiser has capitalized on this
by designing these to cater to that very whim.

Regardless of its heavy bass, the audio is appreciably clear at lower volumes. But
as one increases the volume, the bass does tend to become overwhelming. The
mids and highs sound colored due to the overpowering bass but aren't completely
ignored. All in all, Sennheiser does try its best to cater to local sensibilities at this
given price point and it is definitely an effort worthy of praise

What can you expect from an earphone whose packaging itself says bass heavy?
That's how JBL’s T150A are. Just like CX 180, these heavily lean towards the
lower end too. It delivers JBL's signature sound with an extended frequency
response. The earphones drivers generally deliver precise, powerful sound for an
exceptional listening experience, however, tones get muffled at higher volumes.

Some might consider the bass on these deep and powerful, while others will find it
to be too overwhelming. JBL has yet again managed to combine style with decent
audio quality.

To conclude with sonic quality, the Sennheiser CX 180 undoubtedly boasts of a

much better sonic output than the JBL T150A. Both these earphones do not come
with a soundstage that is worth mentioning about. We should definitely not
compare them with something that a Rs. 2000 product can offer.
