6. UC) Describe your favorite academic subject and explain how it has influenced you.

One of my favorite academic subjects in high school was business and professional
development. In that class, I learned how to debate against my fellow classmates in certain given
situations. My fellow classmates and I were given tough business situations where we had to
argue our perspective. I also learned proper body language to show in the business world like
how to show dominance in a handshake or my posture. I was taught how to properly go through
an interview without becoming nervous. This class has changed my life for the better as it taught
me to be more outspoken and confidence. I,after taking this class, no longer keep quiet on my
opinion/perspective on the discussion. I started having a firmer handshake and straighter posture,
not to mention becoming more respectful when addressing my superiors/supervisors. However,
the most important thing this class has taught me was to be confident in my own work and that
everyone has a right to an opinion.

1. UC) Describe an example of your leadership experience in which you have positively
influenced others, helped resolve disputes or contributed to group efforts over time.

When I was a freshmen in high school, I was taking a class called IED (introduction to
engineering). I, along with several classmates, was formed into a group and we were given our
project/end goal.My teammates were having a dispute because we couldn't figure out how to
approach this project.I took the leader role and started assigning them roles according to their
strength. I started to do research on the raw materials needed in order to accomplish the project.
In the end, we created a presentation that fulfilled all the requirements needed for a passing
grade.

7. UC) What have you done to make your school or community a better place?

I have taken a leadership class in high school where the class and I plan school events.
We planned dances,assemblies, and pep rallies trying to bring up faculty and student body’s
morale up. I was also a volunteer for multiple events like the Do it for Delaney fundraiser where
I guided runners on to the correct routes. Another example was that I was a parking attendant for
the Newark Days Fair/Parade. My responsibility was to prevent accidents from happening and
guiding motorists to the correct parking lots.

4.UC) Describe how you have taken advantage of a significant educational opportunity or
worked to overcome an educational barrier you have faced.

While I was learning aerodynamics during my freetime in order to accomplish my goal to

become a aerospace engineer. My uncle who was a pilot/flight instructor took me on his plane
and taught me the basics of aerodynamics. I took notes while he was introducing all the
equipment to me such as the altimeter and the suspension for the landing gear. I eventually
started to examine blueprints for aircraft and the necessities that keep them running
