Hello, I’m Nathan Tang and I’m a senior in Mr. Landon’s English class. Over the year,

this portfolio has been filled with pieces of writing from essays to my updates resume. My work

all comes from my viewpoint on the matter/subject.

My strengths as a writer is that I have a unique creativity that can be seen with whatever I

write.Over the years as I read more fictional and nonfictional books, it influenced the way I

thought about writing. My creativity thrived after reading these books. New ideas and ending s

came to me like a tsunami. After years of english classes, I became more comfortable with

writing. According to my wildcard essay that I originally wrote for my government class, I am a

rather forward thinking person.

What I want to improve on my writing is that I want to have smoother transitions

between paragraphs. I want to use the one that perfectly fits in that section of writing. Another

thing I want to improve on is the usage of punctuation marks and the right time to use them. I

would’ve like to work on my baseline essay more if given the time as I don’t believe two

paragraphs would count as an essay. My next step in writing would be to take a creative writing

class.

My growth from the beginning of the year to now is noticeable in terms of writing and

my personality. In the beginning of the year, my writing was the opposite of my personality.
While my personality was confident, my writing was not and I was afraid of getting it graded or

judged. Compared to my freshman year, my writing and personality has improved or changed

respectively. My writing has improved as I now plan out what I write and how I write it. My

personality during freshmen year was that I was getting tired of it all. My thought process at the

time included : great another four more years”.

To the readers that take the time to read through my portfolio. Thank you and please

understand that my current mentally is of a pessimistic realist. Which would explain some

negative things I have written in certain pieces of writing.
