NOVEMBER 2017
Objectives

To determine which treatment between dried strips Ginger and fresh strips Ginger is

more effective in purifying used cooking oil.

Statement of the problem

1.How does the quality of the purified used cooking oil compare to the used cooking oil

before undergoing the process of oil purification in terms of:

a.odor;

b. color; and

c. clarity?

2. In which treatment of Ginger is more effective in purifying:

a. Dried Strips Ginger; or

b. Fresh Strips Ginger?

3. What would be the amount of the used cooking oil after purifying in the two

treatments?
Hypothesis

The researchers therefore conclude that the Ginger will purify the used cooking oil.

Research Paradigm

Ginger Used Cooking Oil

 25 grams Dried  Amount
Stips Ginger  Odor
 25 grams Fresh  Color
Strips Ginger  Clarity

Based on the research paradigm, the independent variables are the two(2) treatments

which is the 25g fresh strips of Ginger and the 25g dried strips of Ginger that will affect mainly

the amount of used cooking oil, odor, color and clarity.

Methodology

Materials and Equipments

The researchers collect and gather all the materials and equipments. The researchers need

strainer, cheesecloth, tissue, bowl, 200 mL used cooking oil, 50 grams of Ginger, triplebeam

balance, beaker, knife, and two(2) clean containers.

Procedure

The researchers prepare all the materials. The researchers weigh 25 grams of Ginger in

each treatment using triple beam balance and 100 mL of used cooking oil in each treatment using

beaker. Peel off the skin of the Ginger and slice. Place it under the sunlight and it will be use for

the treatment one (1)which is the dried strips of Ginger. The researchers filtered the used cooking

oil using strainer with tissue and cheesecloth to remove any coarse food particles. Heat the used

cooking oil in the beaker and put the fresh ginger slices for treatment two(2). After 3-5 minutes

turn off the heat. Remove the Ginger after few minutes. Repeat the same procedure with dried

strips of Ginger in purifying the used cooking oil for the treatment two(2). Put the purified

cooking oil in a clean container.

Type of Experimental Research

The researchers use the two group design. A two group design involves a control group

and an experiment, or treatment group. The study has two treatments which are purifying the

used cooking oil using fresh strips Ginger and purifying the used cooking oil using dried strips

Ginger which will be compared based on their effect on the used cooking oil.
