Gate revised plans

Coming to preparing for GATE without going for coaching class. You have enough time to prepare on your own. I
recommend you watch NPTEL Lectures. Very few students have the patience of watching these lectures. I will list the
lectures which you can follow for each subject.

1) Digital Circuits/Logic Design

The video lectures which will be useful for this subject are Digital Circuits and Systems by Prof. S Srinivasan,
faculty(retd.) at IIT Madras. There are 40 lectures in total. These lectures almost cover the complete syllabus of
Digital circuits for Gate exam. However, Microprocessor syllabus is not covered in these lectures.

3) Control Systems

The lectures helpful for this subject are Control Systems by Prof. M Gopal, faculty(retd.) at IIT Delhi. He is a famous
author of many text books related to control systems. One can follow the lectures along with the text book written by
him.

There are 41 lectures in the course and one can skip from lecture 10 to lecture 18 as they are not important for GATE
exam.

Make notes by yourself from these standard textbooks. It will be useful at the time of revision and when you get stuck
in the middle of some problems. Make your own time table to study. Learning pace may vary from person to person.
So understand your pace and plan according to that. Allot more time to the subjects you feel hard to tackle. Practise
previous year GATE papers. Do as many as problems you can. Later in the end phase, study 4–5 subjects in one day.
It will help your brain to switch between subjects easily. Don’t forget to take mock tests because it will expose the
areas you are weak. So that you can give extra attention to those areas. One day before the exam STOP thinking about
it. Go out with your friends, watch movie, go to park or do something that relaxes your mind. Just think I am
thorough with all basic concept of engineering. Then why should I fear the next day!
