In spring quarter 2019, the class of UWP 1Y had multiple assignments and projects to

choose from for our e-portfolios. Everyone’s will be different, but as for me I chose the two
projects that represent me the best and show the most character. The Living Picture Narrative
and the Podcast Project. These two projects represent how far I have come in UWP 1Y this
quarter. I also chose these projects because they are my favorite pieces of work. I made plenty
of mistakes in the first few drafts of these project s but sticking with the writing process and
getting my papers revised multiple times really shaped them into what they are today.

finally come up with
a bright idea.

The Living Picture Narrative project represents what I have learned in

UWP 1 over this quarter because of how far the piece of writing has come. The more we
learned over this quarter the more we put into our writing assignments. Either it be new writing
techniques, or a more in-depth revision each new draft has examples of these elements from
class.
Looking back on my first couple drafts of my living picture narrative, it was far from
perfect and was missing a couple of things. As the quarter went on, I became more and more
aware what these things were and how I could fix them. I tend to leave out certain important
parts or lack extra information. Information that could benefit the reader and get them more
interested in my writing. I have fixed those mistakes and created a narrative that tells a story,
has a conflict, and shows how I overcame that problem. There was multiped times in the first
few paragraphs where I had some run-on sentences and poor sentence structure. A few times
throughout the paper I had parts where I went off topic or had too many topics in one
paragraph. All of these problems I fixed over the multiple revisions we had.
This project compares to many other assignments that I have written for thus class. The
one that I could compare it to is some of the reflections that we had to right about. In the
reflections we basically wrote a story of our writing process, we write about some of problems
we had while writing and how we overcame the problems. Just like the Living picture Narrative.
The Podcast project represents how I how far I have come in UWP 1 this quarter
because it sums up everything that we have learned over the quarter. It has every element that
we need to make a successful paper. It includes the techniques that we learned in class, like
researching and revising. It is my most proud work of this quarter, and the most fun I had
during the assignment.

After the idea is set, research takes place and notes are taken.
Taking a look at some of the first couple of drafts I had made for the Podcast Project, I
realized how much I had come in just a short amount of time From the help of my professor
and my classmates, they pushed me to create the best piece of writing that I possibly could. The
problems that I made in my first few drafts of this project were trying to relate everything back
to the audience. Writing a script for a podcast for the first time was a little challenging which is
why I made some of the errors I did. Another error that I made in some of the beginning
paragraphs was that I had too many ideas in one paragraph. The way I needed to fix this was
either make new paragraphs or just delete some of the ideas because they were repeating. As
you can see in my essay, I deleted most of the repeating ideas and then made one new
paragraph surrounding another idea.

Once the notes are finished, the outline and first draft are completed.

Even with some coffee to help

The assignment that I see relating to this project was the reflection of week seven I
believe. It was basically a mini podcast where I had to write and talk about what I learned from
that week in class and from the readings. In that assignment I had to try and incorporate the
audience and have them understand how my week went. Similar to what I did in the Podcast
Project.
The two course goals that I mastered of this spring quarter were research and revising.
Throughout this quarter these are the two main topics we focused on. About every one of our
projects we had to complete had to do something with researching. Like our Wikipedia Entry
project, which was fining reliable and credible sources and using them to create our own
Wikipedia page. While revising was apart of every assignment that was assigned. Having to
work with our peers really progressed my writing skills and created friendships outside of the
classroom I never thought would have happened.

achievements by revising each other’s papers

Overall, in this portfolio you will see some of my favorite work from the quarter in UWP
1Y. It shows how hard I worked this quarter with all of the assigned assignments, dealing with
other schedules and classes. This portfolio also sums up how far I have come as writer, a writer
who strives to make every draft better than the last one. Not making mistakes and enjoys
writing.
