Pentecost
Developing the potential of each member is an important function and a major
strength of families and churches. Do we recognize, affirm and nourish the gifts of
those around us? In our families? Do we cultivate and thank God for our own gifts?
They are meant to be shared! How do we share our gifts to build up God’s Kingdom
on earth? On this day of Pentecost, let us ask the Holy Spirit to renew the face of the
earth-through us!
347 Holy Hours were kept before the Blessed Sacrament this past week.
We are constantly working to increase this number. We were told by the
Bishop’s office, some years ago, that the privilege of having Our Lord
Exposed in the Holy Eucharist requires 500 hours of Adoration per week.
We haven’t “been there” for a number of years. Those of you, who have a
partner on your hour, be careful not to excuse yourself from keeping your
hour and make an “accounting of our actions.” He knows all things; can read our
hearts and our minds. Make your committed Holy Hour the most special hour of your
whole week…no less! Be sure and follow procedure when you miss your hour. Call
your captain as well in advance as possible! We are in our 57 year of Perpetual
Adoration. Imagine what it has taken to get there. Give a thought or a prayer to the
night adorers all year long, especially in the winter months. We could not exist
without them. Fr. David, Fr. Bill, and the Program Coordinator are extremely grateful.

Please pray for our Sick especially: Betty Bartel, Lisa Gnap, Judy Kriston, Anne
Trischan, Shanon Johnson, Joanne Ramsay, William Bedford, Carol Garman, Chad
Trischan, Pat Shemuga, Helene Van Oss, Paula Collins, Alexandra Kepler, Gary Reed,

Pastor’s Formed Pick of the Week: Joan of Arc
Although she died at nineteen in 1431, her legend and legacy is stronger than
ever five hundred years later. LeeLee Sobieski shines as the legendary warrior and
saint, Joan of Arc, who at seventeen, led one of the great military campaigns for
freedom the world has ever witnessed. Supported by an all-star cast, with glorious
cinematography, music, score, and stunning scenery, Joan of Arc is a riveting film of
faith, inspiration, triumph and tears. Born to a peasant French family, Joan hears the
voices of saints calling out to her to unite her besieged nation, gaining an audience
with the young French King, Joan convinces him that God is calling her to command
an army into battle to save France. It becomes an incredible adventure that leads to
thrilling victories and heartbreaking betrayals as Joan of Arc defies all odds and
marches into history.

The Book Club selection for June is recent novel Conclave by author Robert Harris.
Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes of an election for a new pope? While we

much more happens before, during, and after the conclave – read all about it! Join us
at 1:00pm on Thursday, June 13 in the rectory to discuss your findings.

Charitable Giving Ideas for 2019 - Did you know that gifting appreciated stock (held more than
one year) to a charitable organization such as Catholic Charities or your parish may allow you to
deduct the stock’s full value and bypass capital gains tax? In addition, if you are 70 ½ or older,
you may be able to reduce your taxable income this year with a gift made directly from your IRA
to a qualified charity such as Catholic Charities or your parish. Your accountant or IRA
administrator can help you understand how the IRA Charitable Rollover works and the particular
steps you can take to lower your taxes and help Catholic Charities, your parish or a diocesan
ministry. Learn more by contacting Sandy Lucas of the Catholic Community Foundation at
