Dear Mill Parents and Guardians,
We wanted to provide you with an update on the serious threat to school safety that occurred late Monday
afternoon.
Working with the Amherst Police Department, we have identified the student who made the bomb threat.
After meeting with the parents and in conjunction with the police investigation, we have determined that this
student has no means of acting on the threat. The police investigation has concluded and the perpetrator will
face criminal charges. Schoo] discipline action, aligned with established conduct policies, is being implemented
and will be strong.
No threat is taken lightly. Because of a strong partnership with our students, staff, and parents, we were able
to identify the offender quickly. We recognize that students play a vital role in maintaining a safe school
environment and applaud any student or member of the school community who steps forward with information
to help ensure the safety of our school. We all should use this incident as an example of the absolute necessity of
reporting any and all threats towards our school or individuals.
Itis also important that your child is able to share any concerns or anxieties they may have about school safety
‘matters with a trusted teacher or other adult. Please do not hesitate to reach out for help or guidance; we are
here to support your child.
‘We remain vigilant in our efforts to make Mill Middle a welcoming, safe learning environment for your children.
‘Thank you for your support of our students and school.
Sincerely,
St 0-9
