My Semestral Break Experience

Semestral breaks were supposed to be a time for students to unwind , rest , and to take
a break from school activities. However, my semestral break did not quite go that way; I was still
occupied by my school works and I felt like I was depriving myself from the pleasure that I thirst
upon. My slumbers were still short and insufficient because of school work, especially in
research, mathematics, and journalism. I realized that the more you engage in school activities,
and the more competitive you are in the academics, school is not fun and enjoying anymore. On
the other hand, being more active in school fortifies your knowledge, improves your mindset
about education, and widens your repertoire in a specific field

I spent most of the days preparing for the Regional Scilympics. It felt like every day was
a dejavu of typing on the computer, reading related literature, and trying to find errors on my
work. I would even face the computer screen all day until my eyes were aching. Yes, it is indeed
a busy semestral break, but I still had time to spend with my family.

One particular day, my family and I went to a local resort to spend the whole afternoon. I
had a great time taking a plunge in the soothing waters and making sand castles. I almost
stayed in the pool for three hours straight but I stopped after my body could no longer handle
the cold. I felt extremely exhausted later that night and slept as early as seven o’clock. About
three days after, we went to ‘Campuestohan’, a highland resort at Talisay City. It was actually
my third time going to the marvelous place. Being located in a woody terrain and a high altitude,
the place was generally foggy and cold. We arrived at the place near eight in the morning, was
a bit surprised because a crowd of domestic and foreign tourists was already swarming in the
place. After we have unloaded our things, I immediately changed into swimwear and took a
plunge in the wave pool. While I was swimming, I remembered that every a short interval of
time, a nearby shower area would release foamy bubbles instead of water. Not any longer, a
loud sound blared through the entire place, ushering the start of the bubble shower. My cousins
and I went to the shower area and indulged in the foamy and soft pleasure. It was indeed a well-
spent day.

. But if you think that my semestral break is horrible and depressing, think again because
I still managed to find opportunities to have fun. As what my teacher said, it is just a matter of
time management and self-conditioning. In simpler dialogue, you have to balance time between
pleasure and school works. In conclusion, my semestral break was not that fun but not that
boring and dull, maybe I have to better understand and apply the saying “ All work , and no play
makes you a dull boy, but all play and now work makes you a mere toy.
