Introduction

Cyber-security is the practice of defending computers, servers, mobile devices,

electronic systems, networks, and data from malicious attacks. It's also known as

information technology security or electronic information security. And now, Thailand was

ranked 22nd out of 165 countries in a newly released global assessment of nations'

vulnerability to cyber-attacks, while its cyber security standards are below those of

neighbouring Malaysia. As we spend more and more time using the internet for work,

education and socialising. Being part of this cyber world is no longer a luxury, but a

necessity for many cyber users. So, all cyber users should understand the technology that

they use and how to use it properly and safely for our future life.

Methodology

In this section, I will demonstrate and explain my method and the why, where,

what and how I collected my data. Also, explain the methods of how I did my research.

The data for this report was collected through a google survey (appendix A) which included

a combination of open-ended and choice responses. Participants were sent a web-link on

line group to the survey and made aware of their anonymity as no identifying data was

being collected. The questionnaire focused on several areas including cellphone & internet

use, access to inappropriate material, cyber-bullying perceptions and experiences. The

final survey included 49 respondents, representing all information according to the age of

the respondents (appendix B). The respondents were all student of the MUIDS and other

people around by sending a link to everyone at school and also on the internet such as

line too. This survey highlighted the need for proper cybersecurity awareness and

protection among the student and other people. The cybersecurity awareness and

education research project focus on issues relating to cybersecurity that have both a direct

and an indirect impact on school learners and education. This is important to understand

that in order that we are going to be part of the cyber generation, all cyber users must

protect themselves and their personal information, and need to understand their cyber

internet

Findings and Discussion

Did you know that 95% of cybersecurity breaches are due to human error? On top of that,

only 38% of global organizations state that they are prepared to handle a sophisticated

cyber-attack. And worse, as much as 54% of companies say they have experienced one

or more attacks in the last 12 months and this number rises every month. (Fraud watch,

2018) Now, I will demonstrate my data of survey report of internet usage is high with

87.8% of respondents spending more than 3 hours on the internet in an average day.

(appendix D) This survey supports the report by digital marketing agency that Thai people

spend a whopping 9 hours and 34 minutes per day online which is more than any other

country. Accessing to inappropriate internet material is one of the major problems of cyber

security too. According to cyber security awareness and education research of Professor

Elmarie Kritzinge said that “The majority of this material was pornographic content 63%

of the sample has that accessed inappropriate internet material.” This reflect my research

that according respondents of my survey, 42.9% reported that the material was accessed

intentionally (appendix F). These statistics show that school, family and community need

to be controls and increased education of young teens to inappropriate online content that

may be unsafe or harmful. Together with our literature, the research emphasizes the

important of technology that impact our lives of Thailand youth in many perspectives. Most

of the teenager immersed with the device. Although, online scams and privacy of personal

information are the problem that we have to face and fix it properly. . lastly, in order to

improve cybersecurity awareness and education among school learners, this data can be

helpful to use in planning proper cyber awareness and education programs for school

learners as well.

4
Conclusion

High levels of internet access and mobile usage create a cyber-world in which can

make teenager constantly immersed with them. Despite the education around cyber-

security awareness, there is a strong desire for this topic to be covered within the school

curriculum in Thailand more. Also, these emphasize that cyber-bullying should be

implemented in high school and social environment in order to address a new-age

phenomenon which is can occur with the generation that grow up with technology and

advance device that may increase in prevalence as a result of further technological

developments and advances
