JOHN AMOS COMENIUS is considered as#FatherofMordernEducation because he advocated universal education in his book The Great Didactic. Comenius authored over forty works, and he introduced
pictorial textbooks, gradual learning of comprehensive concepts, equal opportunities for poor children and women, and practical, universal education.
Comenius is rightly called the father of modern education because of the wealth of reforms he advocated for public education. One educator remarked that even Christians should appreciate Comenius’
contributions, ―especially his desire to make educational experiences developmental, holistic, experiential, natural, and enjoyable and his commitment to opening up these educational experiences to
everyone‖.
Comenius has some exceptional ideas that have been implemented by modern education. Children should learn on a gradual level based on what they can comprehend and remember. Education should
be taught in the primary language if possible, which is a leading argument for multiculturalism in America today. Comenius’ theories are interrelated with Christian education since he was a Christian
educator himself, but he still advocated for a ―public‖ Christian education. Credit to Sir Jaylord Menor

LEVELS OF CURRICULUM
Societal Curriculum
-Farthest removed from learners and is designed by the public, such as politicians, representatives of special interest groups, and professional specialists.
-These groups often decide the goals, the topics to be studied, the time to be spent, and the materials to be used.
Institutional Curriculum
-Derived largely from societal curricula with modifications by local educators and laypersons.
-This curriculum is commonly organized according to subjects and includes the topics and themes to be studied.
-Includes the district or school’s written documents containing standards, philosophies, lesson plans, and guides.
-This curriculum, also called the explicit curriculum, is the target of reform movements.
Instructional Curriculum
-This is the curriculum that teachers plan and deliver in schools.
-Teachers base instructional curricula on what has been determined as necessary or desirable for their school by school authorities.
-As expected, however, this curriculum takes on the individual teacher’s priorities, views of education, and style and is also subject to reform and criticism.
Experiential Curriculum
-This is the curriculum perceived and experienced by students.
-What is experienced differs from one student to the next because students have different backgrounds, motivations, and levels of aspirations, to name just a few.
-For example, some students form similar purposes for learning experiences to those held by their teachers, but other students hold very different purposes or no purpose at all.

KEY ANSWERS
PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION
1. Naturalist Intelligence (―Nature Smart‖) Designates the human ability to discriminate among living things (plants, animals) as well as sensitivity to other features of the natural world (clouds, rock
configurations). This ability was clearly of value in our evolutionary past as hunters, gatherers, and farmers; it continues to be central in such roles as botanist or chef. It is also speculated that much of our
consumer society exploits the naturalist intelligences, which can be mobilized in the discrimination among cars, sneakers, kinds of makeup, and the like.
2. Musical Intelligence (―Musical Smart‖) Musical intelligence is the capacity to discern pitch, rhythm, timbre, and tone. This intelligence enables us to recognize, create, reproduce, and reflect on music, as
demonstrated by composers, conductors, musicians, vocalist, and sensitive listeners. Interestingly, there is often an affective connection between music and the emotions; and mathematical and musical
intelligences may share common thinking processes. Young adults with this kind of intelligence are usually singing or drumming to themselves. They are usually quite aware of sounds others may miss.
3. Logical-Mathematical Intelligence (Number/Reasoning Smart) Logical-mathematical intelligence is the ability to calculate, quantify, consider propositions and hypotheses, and carry out complete
mathematical operations. It enables us to perceive relationships and connections and to use abstract, symbolic thought; sequential reasoning skills; and inductive and deductive thinking patterns. Logical
intelligence is usually well developed in mathematicians, scientists, and detectives. Young adults with lots of logical intelligence are interested in patterns, categories, and relationships. They are drawn to
arithmetic problems, strategy games and experiments.
4. Existential Intelligence Sensitivity and capacity to tackle deep questions about human existence, such as the meaning of life, why do we die, and how did we get here.
5. Interpersonal Intelligence (People Smart‖) Interpersonal intelligence is the ability to understand and interact effectively with others. It involves effective verbal and nonverbal communication, the ability to
note distinctions among others, sensitivity to the moods and temperaments of others, and the ability to entertain multiple perspectives. Teachers, social workers, actors, and politicians all exhibit
interpersonal intelligence. Young adults with this kind of intelligence are leaders among their peers, are good at communicating, and seem to understand others’ feelings and motives.
6. Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence (―Body Smart‖) Bodily kinesthetic intelligence is the capacity to manipulate objects and use a variety of physical skills. This intelligence also involves a sense of timing and
the perfection of skills through mind–body union. Athletes, dancers, surgeons, and craftspeople exhibit well-developed bodily kinesthetic intelligence.
7. Linguistic Intelligence (Word Smart) Linguistic intelligence is the ability to think in words and to use language to express and appreciate complex meanings. Linguistic intelligence allows us to
understand the order and meaning of words and to apply meta-linguistic skills to reflect on our use of language. Linguistic intelligence is the most widely shared human competence and is evident in poets,
novelists, journalists, and effective public speakers. Young adults with this kind of intelligence enjoy writing, reading, telling stories or doing crossword puzzles.
8. Intra-personal Intelligence (Self Smart‖) Intra-personal intelligence is the capacity to understand oneself and one’s thoughts and feelings, and to use such knowledge in planning and directioning one’s
life. Intra-personal intelligence involves not only an appreciation of the self, but also of the human condition. It is evident in psychologist, spiritual leaders, and philosophers. These young adults may be
shy. They are very aware of their own feelings and are self-motivated.
9. Spatial Intelligence (―Picture Smart‖) Spatial intelligence is the ability to think in three dimensions. Core capacities include mental imagery, spatial reasoning, image manipulation, graphic and artistic
skills, and an active imagination. Sailors, pilots, sculptors, painters, and architects all exhibit spatial intelligence. Young adults with this kind of intelligence may be fascinated with mazes or jigsaw puzzles,
or spend free time drawing or daydreaming.

9. Who among the following philosophers considered habits and reasons as equally important forces to be cultivated in education?
A. Aristotle - ANSWER
B. Maria Montessori
C. Avicenna
D. Jerome Brunner
RATIONALE:
Philosophy of Education is a label applied to the study of the purpose, process, nature and ideals of education. It can be considered a branch of both philosophy and education. Education can be defined
as the teaching and learning of specificskills, and the imparting of knowledge, judgment and wisdom, and is something broader than the societal institution of education we often speak of.
--------- (Basahin mo na part ito) Aristotle considered human nature, habit and reason to be equally important forces to be cultivated in education, the ultimate aim of which should be to produce good and
virtuous citizens. He proposed that teachers lead their students systematically, and that repetition be used as a key tool to develop good habits, unlike Socrates' emphasis on questioning his listeners to
bring out their own ideas. He emphasized the balancing of the theoretical and practical aspects of subjects taught, among which he explicitly mentions reading, writing, mathematics, music, physical
education, literature, history, and a wide range of sciences, as well as play, which he also considered important.
Other infos
Jean-Jacques Rousseau, in the 18th Century, held that there is one developmental process, common to all humans, driven by natural curiosity which drives the child to learn and adapt to its surroundings.
He believed that all children are born ready to learn from their surroundings so as to grow into virtuous adults, but due to the malign influence of corrupt society, they often fail to do so. To counter this, he
advocated removing the child from society during education. He also believed that human nature could be infinitely developed through a well-thought pedagogy.
John Dewey was an important progressive educational reformer in the early part of the 20th Century. For Dewey, it was vitally important that education should not be the teaching of mere dead fact, but
that the skills and knowledge which students learn beintegrated fully into their lives as persons, citizens and human beings, hence his advocacy of "learning-by-doing" and the incorporation of the student's
past experiences into the classroom.

Edward L. Thorndike in the early 1900's postulated several "Laws of Learning," that seemed generally applicable to the learning process. Since that time, other educational psychologists have found that
the learning process is indeed more complex than the "laws" identified. However, the "laws" do provide the instructor with insight into the learning process that will assist in providing a rewarding
experience to the trainee.
The laws that follow are not necessarily stated as Professor Thorndike first stated them. Over the years, they have been restated and supplemented, but, in essence, they may be attributed to him. The
first three are the basic laws: the law of readiness, the law of exercise, and the most famous and still generally accepted, the law of effect. The other three laws were added later as a result of experimental
studies: the law of primacy, the law of intensity, and the law of recency.
As with anything else relative to the instruction and learning process, nothing that we do is a singular item; a combination of activities occurs at the same time to make the experience complete.
Law of Readiness
The Law of Readiness means a person can learn when physically and mentally adjusted (ready) to receive stimuli. Individuals learn best when they are ready to learn, and they will not learn much if they
see no reason for learning. If trainees have a strong purpose, a clear objective and a sound reason for learning, they usually make more progress than trainees who lack motivation. When trainees are
ready to learn, they are more willing to participate in the learning process, and this simplifies the instructor's job. If outside responsibilities or worries weigh heavily on trainees' minds or if their personal
problems seem unsolvable, they may have little interest in learning.
Law of Exercise
The Law of Exercise stresses the idea that repetition is basic to the development of adequate responses; things most often repeated are easiest remembered. The mind can rarely recall new concepts or
practices after a single exposure, but every time it is practiced, learning continues and is enforced. The instructor must provide opportunities for trainees to practice or repeat the task. Repetition consists
of many types of activities, including recall, review, restatement, manual drill and physical application. Remember that practice makes permanent, not perfect unless the task is taught correctly.
Law of Effect
This law involves the emotional reaction of the learner. Learning will always be much more effective when a feeling of satisfaction, pleasantness, or reward accompanies or is a result of the learning
process. Learning is strengthened when it is accompanied by a pleasant or satisfying feeling and that it is weakened when it is associated with an unpleasant experience. An experience that produces
feelings of defeat, frustration, anger or confusion in a trainee is unpleasant. Instructors should be cautious about using negative motivation. Usually it is better to show trainees that a problem is not
impossible, but is within their capability to understand and solve.
Law of Primacy
This law states that the state of being first, often creates a strong, almost unshakeable impression. For the instructor, this means that what they teach the first time must be correct. If a subject is
incorrectly taught, it must be corrected. It is more difficult to un-teach a subject than to teach it correctly the first time. For the trainees' first learning experience should be positive and functionally related to
training.
Law of Intensity
The principle of intensity states that if the stimulus (experience) is real, the more likely there is to be a change in behavior (learning). A vivid, dramatic or exciting learning experience teaches more than a
routine or boring experience. A trainee will learn more from the real thing than from a substitute. Demonstrations, skits, and models do much to intensify the learning experiences of trainees.
Law of Recency
Things most recently learned are best remembered, while the things learned some time ago are remembered with more difficulty. It is sometimes easy, for example, to recall a telephone number dialed a
few minutes ago, but it is usually impossible to recall a telephone number dialed a week ago. Review, warm-ups, and similar activities are all based on the principle that the more recent the exercise, the
more effective the performance. Practicing a skill or new concept just before using it will ensure a more effective performance. Instructors recognize the law of recency when they plan a lesson summary
or a conclusion of the lecture. Repeat, restate, or reemphasize important matters at the end of a lesson to make sure that trainees remember them instead of inconsequential details.

RATIONALE: Atmosphere, derived from atmos meaning vapor and sphaira meaning sphere, is composed of gases that surround our pl anet. It is held in place by the Earth's gravity. It has about 78.08%
nitrogen, 29.95% oxygen, 0.38% carbon dioxide and 0.93% argon. The atmosphere also contains very small amounts of other gases and about 1% water vapor.
Earth's atmosphere is thicker at the innermost radius around the Earth and starts becoming thinner towards outer space. It is composed of five layers, where each layer plays a significant role in
supporting life on Earth. The outermost layer marks the Earth's territory from outer space. The proportions of gases and their temperatures vary across layers, thus making the composition of each layer
different from the other. The composition of each atmospheric layer influences its properties and leads to various atmospheric phenomena.
Starting from the lowest, the five layers of the Earth's atmosphere are troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, and ionosphere. Troposphere is the very first layer above the Earth's surface
and contains around half of the Earth's atmosphere. Stratosphere, the stable layer comes next and is followed by the mesosphere housing meteors and rock fragments. Thermosphere comes fourth,
above which lies the last atmospheric layer, ionosphere. It is a very thin layer that meets outer space through the exosphere.
