Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Health

Grade 8 MAPEH

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:

1. Define Smoking;

3. Explain the impact/effects of smoking on the family, environment, community, and country;

4. Discuss the dangers of mainstream, side-stream, or second-hand third-hand smoke;

5. Apply resistance skills in situation related to cigarette use.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: The Dangers of Cigarette Smoking

Reference: Grade 8 Physical health and Health Learners Module


Materials: Laptop, Powerpoint, Manila Paper

III. Procedure

A. Review

Ask the class about the previous lesson.

What they learn in the previous lesson.

Ask the student if they really understand the past lesson?

B. Motivation

Introduce the activity for self-inventory.

Let the students answer the item with yes or no.

The teacher will give responses for the interpretation of score.

C. Activities

Divide the class into two groups.

Each group will follow the instruction given in the activity.

The teacher will have checked the work of each group.

D. Abstraction

Proceed to the next lesson which is the Dangers of Cigarette Smoking.

Ask the learners about their ideas in Smoking.

Introduce the meaning of Smoking.

Explain the effects of Smoking on the Body.

Discuss the Dangers of Cigarette Smoking and the three smokes produced by cigarette
smoking.
E. Application

The teacher will group the students and choose a situation for role play.

each item to decipher the word(s). A hint is provided below the word(s).

body;

5. Develop advocacy materials against alcohol use.

Proceed to the next lesson which is the Dangers of Drinking Alcohol.

Ask the learners about their ideas in drinking alcohol.

Introduce the meaning of Alcohol.

Explain the effects of Drinking alcohol on the Body.

Describe the harmful short and long-term effects of drinking alcohol on the different parts of the
body by showing pictures.
E. Application

The teacher will group the students for the activity “Keen Senses”.

The teacher will give a reflection on how does alcohol drinking affect the family, community
and country.

V. Assignment

Create a material that advocates the prevention of alcoholism. Choose from any of the
following: Song/Poem, Artwork/Poster, Video
