Examining the Background of a Philippine Folk dance
1. Search and choose one from any of the resources you have for Philippine folk
dance. Answer the following questions:
1. Where does the dance come from? (Trace the place or province or origin.)
2. It is a national or ethnic dance?
If ethnic:
 From what tribes or group of indigenous people does it come
from?
 What is the nature of the dance? Is it ritual, life cycle, or
occupational?
If national

 What is the classification of the dance?

a) What is the motif or theme of the dance?

3. Describe the background of the dance you chose in five to 10 sentences.
4. Write it on a one whole sheet of paper.

Activity 3 – Performance Task (Group Presentation)

Interpreting and executing Philippine Folk dance
Note: Interpreting Philippine folk dances in the country. Learning all of them would
definitely take more than a year of study. For the sheer purpose of getting you moving
and to be physically active, you will learn interpret, and execute Sakuting folk dance
as it is, for your age group which is more appropriate.
1. Form a group with 10 members (strictly) only Five boys five girls, gathers
your members and talk about the activity. Assign the best
leader/choreographer.
2. Study the background of the Sakuting Dance. Reflect and discuss its
nature, origin, country of influence, costume etc. (Print Copy)

3. Identify and review the fundamental dance steps used in this dance.

5. Create a Video presentation of your dance performance.

 Note:
 Perform it with complete School uniform.
o Girls must be in proper school uniform
o Boys must be in proper school uniform or white T-shirt
 It should be performed with props and music of sakuting folk
dance.
 Your Performance task will be graded based on the Folk-dance
Assessment Rubrics bellow.
