ORGANIZATION MANAGEMENT SPECIALTY CERTIFICATION
Program Objective: To enhance administrative professional’s supervisory and
leadership skills to further grow professionally through increased knowledge and
application of organizational behavior, communication, teamwork, and
strategic planning abilities in the workplace.

The Organizational Management (OM) Specialty Certificate is an eight-week

interactive online course designed for the Certified Administrative Professional
(CAP). Given the fact all participants are CAP designees, we expect a higher-
level of knowledge from participants in administrative duties and functions. OM
is an overview of skills and knowledge needed to rise within an organization and
become supervisors, managers, and/or leaders.

This is not a passive learning experience. Each content module has two to three
learning objectives (LO) which are assessed by written assignments, including a
final project representing the culmination of knowledge obtained and the real-
world application of this knowledge. Participants should expect to spend five to
seven hours per week on coursework depending upon their individual learning
style.

Each LO offers original content written specifically for OM by subject-matter

experts - through readings, overview slides, videos, and websites. Peer learning
occurs in the discussion forums where participants are required to engage by
posting two substantive posts per discussion question. There is a rubric to guide
participants in what a ‘substantive post’ requires.
Earning OM:
To earn the Organizational Management (OM) Specialty Certificate participants
must fully engage during the eight-week course. Learning is assessed through
three short (one-two pages) writing assignments, a final project, and weekly
discussion questions.

Participants must complete all assignments at the ‘excellent’ or ‘good’ level as

specified on grading rubrics posted in each module with their respective
assignment.

To earn full participation for each week’s discussion participants must post an
initial response to each discussion question (DQ) and at least one reply to a
peer’s post.
Participants who receive a ‘Poor’ evaluation will not receive credit for that
week’s discussion. Participants who earn ‘Poor’ more than two out of the eight
weeks will not earn the Organizational Management Specialty Certificate.
