COURSE OUTLINE

Course Objectives: This course aims to provide students with a strong framework for the development of
practical communication skills in organisation settings. One major aim of this course is to stimulate you to think
about what, why and how you communicate. Another is to develop an understanding of communication
theories, process and techniques used at organizational, managerial and personal levels. The objective of the
course is to help the students to develop effective communication skills required for a successful professional
career, irrespective of the field of specialization.

Course Outcome:
1. Student will be able to understand the basic communication skills required in an organization.
2. Student will be able to communicate appropriately and effectively within groups.
3. They will be able to enhance their overall personality.
4. Most importantly they will be able to use it in their professional life.
Course Requirements:
1. The students should read newspapers, magazines and listen to English news.
2. The students should try to converse in English language most of the times.

Teaching Pedagogy: The teaching pedagogy consists of classroom study, role plays, group exercises,
presentations and group discussions. The performance of the students will be evaluated on the basis of internal
exams and the scores obtained on the above mentioned activities.

Presentation : The students will be divided in the group of 3, in order to have 20 groups. Each group will be assigned
with one picture which they will analyze & narrate. The Narration should cover the description of
present past & future of the characters. What is happening at the moment & what is the outcome of the
story. Student would be evaluated on the basis of content, effectiveness of content delivery &
creativity.
1. One hour session orientation of language to the students.
2. Ice Breaking Session – Introducing your Buddy: The class will be divided in the groups of 2,
Class Activity: each student in the group is required to give the introduction of the other member & has to
compare the member with any celebrity (famous person among masses) to tell the attributes of the
partner. Students will get ten minutes to have the interaction with each other.

skills at workplace.)

Assignment: Individual students are required to submit the Cover letter & Resume in the set format taught in the
class, as per their interest area & intended Specialization.
Class Activity: 1. Content Development: Students will be given a common topic; they need to write on topic for
the next 5 minutes and faculty will discuss how they have performed in the next class. (Sample
will be drawn from the submitted sheets, and discussion about common errors or issues will be
discussed)

the students based on which they will write their individual career objective.
