NARRATIVE REPORT

As one of the fourth year students undertaking the OJT Course as part of the curriculum
in the Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering and Architecture – USTP CDO,I have
been able to grab the opportunity to actually apply my academic training experience for 240 hours
to the workplace experience in the real world. The course has provided me the venue to further
enhance my knowledge and competencies in my chosen field of specialization and future career
objectives after graduation. As a student trainee, I have been able to take advantage of the tools
and skills I have been equipped by my intensive academic formation in my school, to be
competent enough in pursuing the different opportunities available for us in the outside world and
to be able to contribute and actively participate in the endeavours of actual work experience.
My objective was to be able to obtain an on-the-job-training position where I can effectively
apply my critical and analytical skills from my academic training experience as Mechanical
Engineering student. With this goal in mind, I pursued my application to be a student trainee at
the C-ONE Trading Corporation located at Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro City. Fortunately, my
team’s application was accepted, we were assigned in Production Department
I started my on-the-job training in -ONE Trading Corporation on April 15, 2019. Ma’am
Jasmin Tan Yacapin as the Associate Human Resource Specialist gave me and my team a brief
orientation regarding the 240-hour practicum under Production Department where we will be
handled by Ma’am Banica Salon, our Immediate Head as student trainee. We were introduced
and welcomed in the Production Department where we met Sir Romeo Pedraza, as the
production head. He gave us an orientation regarding the duties and responsibilities we have
been tasked as their student trainees. Below is an enumeration of the duties and responsibilities
we were expected to accomplish during the schedule and duration of practicum.
1. Dismantling and Assembling of Excavator (Hitachi Excavator 210K)
2. Study its parts and functions
3. Study its Hydraulic System
4. Dismantling and Assembling of its engine
5. Trace the entire excavator and draw it in solidworks
6. Propose an innovation
My schedule started from 8:00 in the morning up 5:00 in the afternoon every Monday to
Friday. My first week at C-ONE was personally motivating and enhancing. We have been exposed
heavy trucks and mechanical tools we had never used before.

The practicum experience is worth the time, effort and hard work. The short period of time that I
have spent in C-ONE contributed a lot to the increase in my awareness, understanding and
practical application of my course. The experience I have gained inspired me to always do good
and always give the best of the bests efforts.
