1 Inception Report 21st August 2014
Presentation on Inception • Approach and Methodology Finalised
2 24th September 2014
Report • Finalised on survey plan and survey schedules
• Stakeholders insisted that the study should come out with proposals
to address parking
• More walkways and projects for pedestrianisation need to be
considered
• Few stakeholders also stressed on the needs for integrating land use
with transport systems by providing outer ring roads outside the city
limits and creating new CBDs outside Puducherry city and provision of
other drivers of mobility such as schools and hospitals within the main
residential areas.
3 1st Stakeholder meeting 22nd November 2014
• As roads are narrow, mini buses instead of standard buses requires
to be operated. Stakeholders insisted on introducing new public
transport mode to convert all the polluting and unsafe shared auto
plying in the city.
• Apart from new railway line from Puducherry to Cuddalore, there are
many other proposals such as doubling, electrification, etc., from
Railways for the Puducherry region
• Requirement of Truck terminal and Transport Nagar in the city was
suggested by Lorry and LCV associations
