Question 2:
The columns shown in figure below are subjected to an ultimate moment (Mu) of
90.00 kN.m in the direction shown in the figure. It is required to calculate the
ultimate load (Pu ) the section can sustain with the given moment . ξ=0.8.
Question 3:
A plan and cross section are shown in this figure for un-braced building
in both directions having 6 floors. All columns are of dimensions 500*500 mm.
Beam Service dead load = 2.5 t/m’
Beam Service live load = 1.5 t/m’
It is required to calculate the axial load and the additional moments due
to buckling acting on column C2.

1- An uncovered elevated square tank 20*20 in plan and 4 m
height. The tank will be supported on columns with 5.00 m
spacing in both directions. Projected beams in floor slab are
allowed.
2- An uncovered elevated square tank 5*5 in plan and 4 m
height. The tank will be supported on columns with 5.00 m
spacing in both directions. No cross projected beams is
allowed while top beams are allowed.
3- An elevated square tank 5*5 in plan and 12 m height. The tank
will be supported on columns with 5.00 m spacing in both
directions. No cross projected beams is allowed while top
beams are allowed.
4- Calculate the loads only acting on an elevated tank 4*5 m in
plan and 8 m height. The tank will be supported on 4 corner
columns. No cross projected beams is allowed while top
beams are allowed. Illustrate the statical system showing
loads acting on each element.
