Question 2:

The columns shown in figure below are subjected to an ultimate moment (Mu) of
90.00 kN.m in the direction shown in the figure. It is required to calculate the
ultimate load (Pu ) the section can sustain with the given moment . ξ=0.8.

Question 3:

A plan and cross section are shown in this figure for un-braced building
in both directions having 6 floors. All columns are of dimensions 500*500 mm.
Beam Service dead load = 2.5 t/m’
Beam Service live load = 1.5 t/m’
It is required to calculate the axial load and the additional moments due
to buckling acting on column C2.

Design of R.C. Tanks


Design and draw full details of reinforcement for the following

Concrete characteristic strength (fcu) = 35 MPa
Steel yield stress (fy) = 400 MPa
1- An uncovered elevated square tank 20*20 in plan and 4 m
height. The tank will be supported on columns with 5.00 m
spacing in both directions. Projected beams in floor slab are
allowed.
2- An uncovered elevated square tank 5*5 in plan and 4 m
height. The tank will be supported on columns with 5.00 m
spacing in both directions. No cross projected beams is
allowed while top beams are allowed.
3- An elevated square tank 5*5 in plan and 12 m height. The tank
will be supported on columns with 5.00 m spacing in both
directions. No cross projected beams is allowed while top
beams are allowed.
4- Calculate the loads only acting on an elevated tank 4*5 m in
plan and 8 m height. The tank will be supported on 4 corner
columns. No cross projected beams is allowed while top
beams are allowed. Illustrate the statical system showing
loads acting on each element.

1- Design and draw full details of reinforcement for an isolated


footing to carry a rectangular column (0.35 x 1.0 m) that carries
working dead of 1000 kN and working live load of 800 kN,
respectively knowing that the allowable soil bearing capacity
=150 kN/m2.
2-Design and give complete reinforcement details for the combined
footing shown in the figure below. Column C1 has a cross section of
(0.3 m x 0.5 m) and supports a working load of 1550 kN. Column
C2 has a cross section of (0.3 m x 0.9 m) and supports a working
load of 2000 kN. Assume that the allowable soil bearing capacity is
150 kN/m2.

3-Design and give complete reinforcement detailing for a pile cap


(5.6x 3.6) that constitutes a part of a deep foundations system of an
office building. Design data: Column dimensions = 500 x 1000
mm, working column load = 7500 kN, Pile diameter= 800 mm,Pile
working load capacity=1600 kN Pile cap thickness = 1400 mm
