What Is The Difference Between Light-Dependent and Light-Independent Reactions?

Light-Dependent and Light-Independent reactions are essential for carrying out photosynthesis.
The light-dependent reactions synthesize energy from sunlight, and the light-independent
reactions use that energy to produce sugars, most commonly known as glucose
(C6H12O6), from carbon dioxide (CO2). With the resulting glucose, many living organisms get
food and oxygen. Although they are very similar in many ways, there are also many things in
which they are different.
Light - Dependent Reactions
 These reactions require direct involvement of light energy
and light-absorbing pigments.
 Take place in the thylakoids of the chloroplasts.
 Uses low-energy electron carriers and converts the particles
into high-energy electron carriers.

 These reactions require no light energy.

 Takes place in the stroma of the chloroplasts.

Uses the energy from the high-energy electron carriers created in the light-dependent reaction to
create C6H12O6
